Change of Plans!

Posted 08/11/2009 by Andrea in logistics, venues \ 3 comments

We’ll there has been a lot going on in the last month or so. The original wedding location in San Clemente has been scratched. What I thought was going to be anaffordable location, turned out to be not-so-affordable (at least for us) After adding on all of the fees, permits, etc The cottage that was once oh-so …

And July Turns To August

Posted 08/01/2009 by Emily in logistics \ 5 comments

Our wedding month has arrived! And, overall, I’m feeling cool, calm, and collected.

The last weekend in July was a whirlwind of wedding activities: hair and makeup trials, dress fitting, and meetings with our coordinator, our caterer, and our photographer.

I was definitely reminded why we hired professionals. Each vendor asked questions we hadn’t considered: Who will walk the mothers down the …

Getting married at a private residence

Posted 07/30/2009 by Meredith in logistics \ 5 comments

Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to get married at my Aunt Jean’s and Uncle Mitch’s house (this link is to the blog I started just before Bill and I were engaged). I think about 5 minutes afer I said yes to Bill’s proposal – I ran over to my Aunt and Uncle and said “Can we …

The eight-week freakout… and a call for help.

I have one of those countdowns on my Facebook profile that tells me how many days are left until the wedding. I used to think it was a fun, quirky thing to have, but as the number gets smaller and smaller, I find myself getting more and more freaked out about how little time we have left. There’s just so …

Hiring our Day of Coordinator (DOC)

My parents are generously paying for most of our wedding. The amount they are donating seems so great to us (albeit reasonable for Chicago) that we truly are grateful and don’t feel comfortable with them paying a cent more, despite their offers – we are employed after all. So when no fairy godmother showed up to save the …

Top Pros

1.) Amazing Location

3.) You have the opportunity to focus on more of the special details since you have a smaller guest list

Top Cons

Wedding II

We set off from London on the Thursday before the wedding with more things than I thought possible packed into M’s Dad’s car, including but not limited to boxes and boxes of crockery, wine, a picnic hamper and a barbecue to take on our honeymoon. M and I spent our last night together as single people crammed into the bottom …

Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting!

Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting!

Alice and Wonderland.  If only I had time to watch that movie this week!  We have roughly a million things to do before Thursday:

Setting the Date

It’s already June 2009 – only one year away from our wedding! We’ve made a lot of progress since we began planning a few months ago…we’ve picked the venue, chosen the date, picked the church, the photog, the DJ and found the dress (but have not actually bought it yet).

Out of these decisions, the one that gave me the most …

It’s like rain on your wedding day?

Posted 05/25/2009 by Kelly in logistics, the planning process \ 4 comments

I would’ve loved to plan an outdoor wedding. Especially if I was friends with someone in Birmingham with a big back yard. Minus renting all those chairs (which, by the way, I am in love with this wedding in which they brought pews outside), I think it would make for a beautiful, wonderful, lovely event. As long as the weather …

Day-after brunches

Posted 05/13/2009 by Briana in day after brunch, life, logistics \ 4 comments

One of the amazing things about our wedding is how many of our guests will be coming from out of town. Only about 20% of our guests live in Colorado–which makes us feel so special that so many of our close friends are willing to travel such distances for us. Rather than thanking our guests with favors which they may …

Sweet Ceremony Songs

Let me set the scene: a canopy of trees shading the August sun; guests seated on either side of a circular fountain; the groom in a khaki suit waiting for his bride to walk down the stone staircase. And what do you hear? A musician strumming melodic chords on an acoustic guitar, of course.

We found said musician, Susan Savia, on …
