Old Academy Players
I have just discovered a little gem tucked away in the East Falls section of Philadelphia that I have to share. If you are a bride on a budget, with a flair for DIY projects and want to be a princess for a day, Old Academy Players is the place for you. Get married on the stage that Princess Grace got her start and then turn the adjoining building into a beautiful and intimate affair! This venue isn’t for everyone, but it is worth looking at. I can’t wait to do a wedding there!

Location, Location, Location!
Location is so much a part of a perfect wedding! Here are two venues that I would suggest in the Philadelphia area.
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is my favorite venue to work. There are two buildings - one an Art Deco building with a marble staircase and red walls and the other, pictured here, a modern art gallery with hardwood floors and an edgy feel. The staff is marvelous and the food delicious, provided by Duffy’s Catering.

Get Married at City Hall… seriously!
San Francisco’s City Hall is one of the most gorgeous and glamorous wedding venues I have ever encountered. I am *in love* with the elegant flooring, beautiful rotundas, and amazing staircase.

It is definitely not cheap (prices range from $5,000 to $30,000) but if you have a large party to throw, where better than here? And everyone always says that they should’ve just “gone to city hall”! Here is an example of a couple who did just that!

PS - I just realized that I obviously do not know how to filter my Google Analytics correctly. I was amazingly excited to see tonight that we have actually had 7,000 visitors in the past two months, not 4,000 as I had originally posted. WOW to all of our fantastic visitors - thank you SO much for reading!

Essential Questions for Venues
Today I received an email from a bride requesting the list of questions she should ask her venue prior to signing a contract. Obviously the type of venue will dictate this a bit, but here is my advice to her (and you):
Pricing/Hours
- How many hours are alloted for my event? What is the overtime policy if I exceed those stated hours?
- Do the stated hours include time for set-up and break-down or must I pay extra?
- Is rehearsal time the day prior included in the rental fee? If it is not, what is the cost?
- If I am holding a morning or evening event, will you book another event for the alternate time slot?
- Does the venue require any security personnel? Is that included in the rental fee?
- What is the payment schedule and cancellation policy? In the event of a breach of contract by either party, what is the legal recourse?

Rancho Las Lomas
I’m always jealous of California girls and their weddings. First of all, the weather is picture-perfect. Secondly (and speaking of pictures), my favorite photographers in the whole world are based in Southern California. And lastly, it is just a hotbed of event designers, florists, and amazing wedding venues.
Regarding venues, I have one word to say about Rancho Las Lomas in Newport Beach - GORGEOUS.

The Inn at Palmetto Bluff
While searching for wedding venues in South Carolina for a new bride-to-be, I found The Inn at Palmetto Bluff. The resort is 20 minutes outside of Savannah, and looks like one of the most beautiful places to marry. The perfect place to fulfill the inner southern princess.
The pictures were very hard to extract, so a full photo montage can be found here.
While searching the location on Google Images, I found this post. If you look closely, you might see Ms. Reese Witherspoon as a bridesmaid.

Barnsley Gardens
I simply adore this space just outside of Atlanta for a destination affair! Barnsley Gardens Resort is an excellent option for those that want a true all-in-one experience. Not only do they have gorgeous gardens and Civil War ruins but also an excellent hotel, spa, golf courses, and amazing dining!

B&A Warehouse
One of the best places (in my opinion) to throw an event in Birmingham is at B&A Warehouse. It’s a non-traditional urban venue with brick walls and interesting architecture. B&A has several options for any size wedding, from the Brick Room (capacity 375 to 950) to the Bottle Room (capacity 60-125). They have on site catering, with a completely customizable menu. Rental on a Saturday night runs from $375 to $2000. Prices on Sunday thru Friday range from $275 - $1750. The high ranges are for the entire building, and December rates spike a little bit because of the increase in holiday parties. The representatives are friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s a very flexible venue and a great option for an urban wedding.
