Heather from Eclectic Images let us share a few images from a recent wedding with our readers. Rachel and Patrick married at Casa Blanca in Round Rock a few weeks ago and the wedding was lovely! Remember these centerpieces from earlier in the week? All DIY by Rachel.
First up, the dress designed by Melissa Sweet. Doesn’t Rachel look radiant?!

Wedding Style: the Dress
Finding a wedding dress is an interesting process, to say the least. It is definitely the one iconic thing you will buy for your wedding that really brings it home that, yes, you are getting married. It can be a fun and joyous process. It can be a little frustrating at times. It can make you laugh, smile, and bring tears to your eyes. It can be all of that, really, because it is a big important decision, and usually one that takes a few times of looking to figure out.
I’m getting married in November, but I wanted to get started on my planning early so I wouldn’t be pressed for time. After booking the venue, flipping through every bridal magaizine that was out at the time, and kind of thinking about how I wanted my wedding to “look”, I thought it would be a good idea to look for a dress. Once I had my dress picked out, I could settle on a bridesmaid dress and my fiancee could think about tuxedoes and ties. Also, and I don’t mind sharing this with you, it would help to provide some concrete (expensive concrete at that!) motivation for really getting back into my workout routine that I had stopped sometime during my courship with my fiancee.

Bridesmaids’ Shoes
There’s been lots of chatter on colored bridesmaids’ shoes lately - so when I saw this tonight on the lovely Laura Kay’s blog, I just had to post it!
I absolutely love the rainbow of bridesmaids’ shoes and think this could be another great alternative for all of you thinking of colored shoes for your gals.

Local Designers and the Dress
To kick off my weddingregionalism week of posts, I’d like to discuss local designers and artisans. I’m going to start off with what I know and that is Portland, OR. Anything I do with this city can be applied to your own city/hometown and I hope you might come away with some inspiration!

Colored Shoes?
When I first started my wedding planning, and I began to look around at all the different blogs and websites for inspiration, one of the details that I starting seeing was the brides who wore fun, brightly colored shoes. It was a small detail that I immediately fell in love with - I didn’t even question whether or not it was appropriate, what other people would think, or if my Mom would think I was crazy (which she kind of did)! I loved the fun spirit of it, and I knew that I wouldn’t be wearing the standard ivory shoes on my wedding day. I wanted color!!
At first I wasn’t sure what color I was really after. Did I want to go with a blue for my “something blue”? That would be cute. Or did I want to go with a hot red color?? Ultimately, if I could have had my pick of any color, I decided that I would choose orange. Not only is it one of my favorite colors, I’m using it in my wedding in the flowers and other details. But, I also knew that the color would probably be dictated by the actual shoe I found, and what colors it was available in. Being 5′8″, and only a few inches shorter than my fiancée (and really longing for comfort on my wedding day!), I knew I wasn’t after those gorgeous heels that the other girls were pining after. I was after flats. Or really really low heels. That are dressy. Which, as it turns out, are harder to find than you may think.

Who says only diamonds are forever?
When I started looking into alternative engagement rings, the most common advice I heard was to substitute my birthstone for diamonds. As my birthstone is the diamond (as an April baby), I thought this was poor advice. So I had to take matters into my own hands. It’s not that I dislike diamonds - in fact, the Jessica Fields sapphire ring I’m wearing now on my left hand has diamonds encircling the ring. It’s just that I think other gemstones are so much more interesting. So, using my gorgeous bauble as my inspiration, I have compiled some of the most gorgeous non-diamond-solitaire rings out there.

Clockwise from top left: Diamond dot com, Jewels For Me, Ice dot com, The Clay Pot, Topazery, Macy’s, Jewelry Central
So what’s your position? Are diamonds a girl’s best friend or do you wear an alternative e-ring?
