Nicole Black was a joy to work with from beginning to end, and her calligraphy is absolutely breathtaking! I hired Nicole to do the calligraphy for our wedding invitations. I live in New Orleans - far away from Nicole’s Texas homebase - and I had never even spoke with anyone who had used Nicole’s services before, but my sister found her website and suggested that I look at it. Since I am left-handed as well, I was really excited to see what left-handed calligraphy looks like. I was so impressed with the pictures of Nicole’s work that I emailed her to ask if she would address our wedding invitations!
Nicole was very prompt in returning both emails and phone calls, and she was very flexible throughout the process. She had a few personal touches throughout her work that I found very telling of the caliber of her work. For example, she asked that I mail her a copy of our invitation when I sent her the blank envelopes because she wanted to understand the entire impression that the invitation made so that she could best decide about her calligraphy (although she does let you choose the font you would like from a number of font styles, she said she wanted to fine tune the font to match the invitations!).
Before we even signed a contract, Nicole mapped out a tentative time-line with me so I would know what to expect. She had the invitations back to me in perfect condition much earlier than expected, and she even graciously handled a few late-additions to my invite list without missing a beat.
I highly recommend Nicole for any calligraphy that you need done! She was such a wonderful mix of professional and personal that I can’t praise her work enough!! We were so pleased with the quality and integrity of her work that after receiving the invitations we asked her to make Reserved for Family of the Bride, Reserved for Family of the Groom, and Guestbook signs to place on tables at our wedding reception!
