Confession time – I’m cluttered. Not quite sure anybody believes me when I say this, but I actually KNOW where everything is my clutter, but it doesn’t make for the prettiest apartment!
So in the spirit of a) a new year and b) getting out of my post-vow renewal coma, I present to you my organizational goals for 2009:
Scan in all of my pre-digital photo albums and organize my online albums
This is something I’ve already started, and I just know how much better I’ll feel when I’m done. My plan is to work on the photos I already have online first (backing them up in multiple places online, burning CDs as an extra physical copy, printing the best 200 of each trip for albums, and making low-resolution files available for my friends to view), and then move on to the older albums, and explore the pros and cons of sending them away to a service such as Scan Cafe vs. doing it myself.
Put all of my CDs in iTunes
I really don’t love my iPod, but I use it anyway. Because unfortunately it really is more convenient. But I have TONS of old music that I just love and want to have on the iPod, so a goal is putting them all in iTunes. And then backing all of my music up (along with the rest of my files on my laptop, but that’s a different story).
Organize my books, magazines, and DVDs
We have sooooo many books, and a used bookstore around the corner. Perfect, no? I also want to get a library card so that perhaps I will not purchase more of said books and have more of said clutter. :)
Clean out my medicine cabinet, the cabinets under our sinks, and the closet
Self-explanatory, yes?
Organize my craft items
This is a big one left over from the vow renewal and I want to make sure that my living room is livable again! Not only do I have to figure out what to do with all of my left-over unused items, but also all of the materials and supplies from various craft projects. This is not going to be fun and I’m sure I’ll procrastinate doing it as much as I can. But I’ll let you in on a secret – I think EAD is going to help me with this particular goal (another resolution that A. and I have for 2009, but can’t reveal yet)!
What are your organization goals for 2009? Are you in need of purging unnecessary items from your home/life? Can I get another of you to confess that you’re a clutterbug so I feel less alone?

i’ve used scanmyphotos.com several times with success now. they’re the cheapest scanning source i could find. the quality isn’t awesome and you have to do some work yourself (rotating the pics right side up, photo corrections), but i’ve ended up with better quality scans than pics in some cases. this was part of my Christmas present for my dad – i got about half of their old photos, scanned them, and loaded them on a digital picture frame. he loves it. :)
A large part of my 101 in 1,001 list looks very similar to your list above. I try. I really do, but staying organized (or just uncluttered) is not my forte.
Do you have any ideas about how to move old cassettes to cd or ipod? I really want to keep the music!
