I’m going to be honest, Sherry over at This Young House wrote a great article on simplifying her shower and makeup. You should definitely read it (and the rest of this truly awesome blog!). I’m not sure I can do much better, but here are my tips for organizing your bathroom!
Warning! You’re going to see “get rid…” several times in this post. It’s my number one rule for staying organized. You do not need to hold on to everything. Getting rid of clutter will put your mind at ease. I promise!
Under the Sink and Medicine Cabinet
Completely empty it and start grouping. Throw out any expired medications. If you have bins available, use them. If you don’t, go purchase some. Separate each group into a bin. Cleaning supplies, first aid, medicine, etc.
In The Shower
Do you really need 4 shampoos? Get rid of anything that you don’t use and simplify your shower. Find a place (either hanging shower caddy or ledge) to store everything neatly. Nothing looks worse than a shower with products everywhere in sight.
Make Up
Get a really cute makeup bag and pare everything down into that bag. Don’t cheat and buy a suitcase! Throw out any old makeup. This link provides the guidelines for makeup expiration dates.
Linen Closet
Get rid of the towels that holes in them. You don’t need them! Rip them up for cleaning rags or donate them. Do the same thing with sheets. Fold sheets neatly and put complete sets in one of the matching pillowcases. It will make linens easier to see and grab. The old way of doing things (fitted in one stack, pillowcases in another..) should be destroyed!
