Decor: Bedroom Revamp, Part 2

Welcome to the EAD Living blog! We are so excited to have you here. If you are a new visitor, we'd love for you to subscribe to our RSS feed and visit our sister site, EAD Weddings. Thanks for visiting and we hope you come back soon!

The major reason we aren’t happy with our bedroom is because we have been unable to choose a bed we both love.  I finally sat down and scoured the internet (am not an furniture store lover) for beds that we like.

Here are three that I really like…

Matera Bed from Design Within Reach

Madura Bed from Crate and Barrel

Montego Platform Bed from Pottery Barn

I was surprised to find this over at Pottery Barn. It doesn’t seem to be the typical PB style, which I stay away from because it’s so “done” here in the South,.  While I do really like it, the bed is still too colonial for me.

And here is the bed that we both really love…

Wood Bed Frame from West Elm

This is as simple as it gets!  I love the raised platform, which is easier to clean under, but it is still low enough for our puppies to wake us up in the morning.  It looks clean, simple and modern and is perfect for setting up a bookcase at the foot.  At a mere $250 for a full and $280 for a queen, this is a true bargain.  The only thing I’m not sure of is the quality, as I’ve never orderded furniture from West Elm before.  For now, this bed is a winner!

we heart your comments!

west elm is a williams-sonoma brand, just like pb. my guess is that the quality is decent.

I’ve had the wood bed frame from West Elm for about 3 years now, and I think it’s great! It’s really sturdy, and I’ve moved 3 times since I’ve had it and it’s so easy to take apart and put back together, and it’s just like new every time. The only issue is sometimes if you sit down too fast at just the wrong angle, a few slats underneath will fall out of the track, but it’s just a matter of lifting up the mattress to fix it. Hope this helps!

I have some West Elm nesting tables, and they’re sturdy enough to sit on!
I think their quality is pretty good, actually. I’ve never heard anything bad.

I say go for it! It’s a great simple classic bed.

I love the bed you picked, so simple and classic!

[...] that we’ve picked a bed, I need two side tables for the bed, and a bookshelf or bench for the foot of the bed.  I’m [...]

Did you order it yet? I have to say I am not impressed with their wood veneer quality. I bought a bookcase from them and within a year it was old and beat looking – I should have prefaced this by the fact that I take extremely good care of my furniture – it should not have worn the way that it did.

Good luck with you new bed. Hopefully they’ve perfected their veneer by now.

I also have the West Elm bed and it’s actually pretty decent quality. I bought the bed about 4 years ago, and we added the overlapping squares headboard about 2 years ago. The bed, at least when I bought it, was better quality than many of the other West Elm products that I’ve either purchased or seen in stores (including my current dining table, which I HATE). The only real drawback of the West Elm bed is that under-bed storage is very difficult, since there isn’t enough room to slide anything under the bed.
