Everyday Dress-wearer’s Anonymous

I'm not exactly sure when my love for fashion started. My mom said that when I was six I asked her why dad always took me shopping at Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom's and she just took me to TJ Maxx. I tend to lean more toward the trendy side of fashion for myself; I like to change my look often, so the trendy things I bargain hunt for. I have staples like my David Kahn jeans and Ugg boots that I don't mind paying more for, but in general, I am an "on-sale" kind of girl.

Hi.  My name is Allison.  I am an overwhelmed, under-slept thirtysomething.  During any given day, I work as a wife, mother, counselor, short-order cook, secretary, veterinarian, maid, cab driver, doctor and, on a good day, a fashion stylist.  Given all these facts, let me start over.  Hi.  My name is Allison.  I am an (almost) everyday dress-wearer.

It was three summers ago when I first fell in love with dresses.  I’d never been much of a dress wearer before….the 90′s styles never really seemed to fit my J.Lo-esque (I say that loosely) body.  But, once the easy shapes and baby-doll dresses came in, I was in love.  I mean, really, does it get any easier?!  A top and bottom in one piece.  So many colors, so many fabrics, so many styles.  In the right fabric they can even be so many seasonal.  And the best part, they cover up under-exercised legs with such ease and comfort.   If you don’t already, you should get to know your new best friend…

  1. I, too, have become a dress lover over the last few years. When I find a dress that is machine washable, impossible to get wrinkled, AND cute, it’s like hitting the jackpot! This past winter I also experimented more with pairing summery dresses with tights, boots, and blazers/cardigans. It was such a fun and easy way to spruce up my winter wardrobe without spending a ton of money.

  2. I am a dress lover, too. One piece of clothing and it looks like you made an effort. Can it get any better??

  3. Love that dress! I also like to wear dresses during the summer. They’re much cooler than shorts/capris and can easily be taken from day to night.

me too. I’m a huge summer dress wearer, like Sarah says, much cooler. It’s Sunday afternoon & I’m wearing a dress. Comfy. Cool. And that Antrhopologie dress pic you posted is exactly the type of ‘housedress’ that I wear around.
