My husband and I just bought our first house and I love it! We lived in a 3 flat, in a small 1 bed, 1 bath unit on the 3rd floor. Doing laundry was a chore, we had no storage space and counter space was practically non-existent. We lived in a bigger apartment when we relocated waiting to close on our house for two months. Although, the apartment was nice our neighbors were not. There was constant noise coming from the upstairs unit and their dog howled at all hours of the day and night. Our house is one level which I didn't think I would like, but it is so much more convenient. I no longer wait until we have no clothes or towels to use because I dread lugging it all up and down 3 flights of stairs. I now have a huge kitchen where everything has it's place and still have empty space. I can roll out dough on my counters without having to move a microwave. Our HOA takes care of the yard maintenance and the 3 community pools, parks and basketball court. I couldn't ask for more!

We have a house - 5 years come September. I loooove it. We've dealt with the cleaning struggle by hiring folks to come in every other week, which is amazing. It totally saved our marriage. LOL We know of a handyman we can hire to take care of stuff we don't want to deal with (or can't). And we have a pool in our 'hood, so that's nice too. Speaking of grass though... I wish ours were greener right now. The heat is doing a number on it. But it's great 3 seasons of the year, so meh.

We bought a condo so we have a little bit of the best of both worlds...able to decorate as we please, community pool, and don't have to deal with the outside of the unit or the landscaping. Unfortunately, we've been hit with some special assessments since we've moved in, so I'm missing apartment living a bit. (Although the grass is always greener, right?) But this has given me a taste of the joys and the work a house will be some day!

We rent an apartment, and I love it. The only huge downside is that there is one central laundry, and it is in the main building where the office is...so doing laundry means loading up the car, grabbing a book, and spending a day in that area of the complex.

Next year we'll probably rent a small art deco home by the park.

I have no desire to own a home which sounds odd when I type it out. I like not having to fix things or mow the grass or clean the pool. We'll buy a house one day, but probably not until we are in our 30s unless some amazing property comes our way.

Mrs. Newlywed’s most recent blog post: It's like 1995 all over again.

We have the best of both worlds - we rent a house (with a pool!). Obviously we still face the same cleaning pains, but it is nice to have a land lord! Hopefully he will sell this house to us one day as we LOVE it - otherwise, I will be a sad panda!
