I cracked up when I read this! So I've actually had gray/white hairs popping up on my head since I was in about 5th grade. I'm asian so I've got really dark hair so they are rather noticeable. I usually don't stress about them, however my mother began plucking them whenever she saw one when we was doing my hair as I was younger. So all of a sudden I'd feel her stop, pause and then YANK a hair (or several) out. I'm like mother, you're going to give me a complex! Just leave them alone! So I finally get her to stop playing the yoink the white hair game only to begin dating my now husband several years ago. Now he is also follicularly challenged but I happen to think he looks great bald as well. There is also a rather significant age difference between us so he likes to tease me whenever possible if I do anything that seems "older" to him (I'm 27). Well one day we're sitting on the couch watching some tv and snuggling when, lo and behold, he spots a white hair. Which he promptly YANKS right out of my poor unsuspecting head. So I have to be careful when we cuddle because he now has a new mission to seek and destroy any white hair he might possibly be able to find. I never need to worry about plucking my own white hairs, everyone seems to be determined to do it for me!

First of all, you're hilarious and your writing is awesome! Secondly, I sympathize with you. I haven't found my first grey yet, but in May, I took the leap from 27 to 28...and I've found it to be a pretty profound change on the age scale.

I know 28 is still relatively "young", but I can't help but feel old lately. And man, that biological clock is ticking...loudly!

Just throwing this out there...there's a product out there called Re:Nu by Joico (a branch of Shiseido). They have a serum that's supposed to slow gray growth. Yay technology! http://www.joico.com/renu/renual.php?r=h
And heck, if that doesn't work...look at Stacey London! So chic with that gray streak!

Honest, it's really not that traumatic. I started getting grey hair at 21. Finally this year at 25, my husband pointed out that I might want to start thinking about dying my hair because there were so many. But, I hate the idea of dying my hair, so I've just been plucking them every day -- I figure that will buy me another year or so before I have to start dying on a regular basis.
