OMG. Stirrups are Back.

I'm not exactly sure when my love for fashion started. My mom said that when I was six I asked her why dad always took me shopping at Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom's and she just took me to TJ Maxx. I tend to lean more toward the trendy side of fashion for myself; I like to change my look often, so the trendy things I bargain hunt for. I have staples like my David Kahn jeans and Ugg boots that I don't mind paying more for, but in general, I am an "on-sale" kind of girl.

Ugh!  Why do I try to fight it?!  The fashion trends that I protest the most are almost always the ones I become deeply commited to,  and  this Fall’s big trend is shaping  up to be no different.

Juicy Couture opened a new store here in Birmingham last week.   I stopped in just to “browse”  and I was doing great until I picked up their Fall 2009 cataloge.   The  looks were great… comfy and fashion forward.  What scared me though was that the looks I loved the most all had the common theme of black, stirrup leggings.   Last fall, I saw these familiar yet tucked away things of my 80′s past and said “No.  Never.  Not again.”  But, alas, I am caving.  Must. Have. Stirrups.  Here are some looks I found that made me do it.  (You’ll do it, too.  Trust me.)  Oh, and check out the denim shorts in pic #1.

    Not sure if I would wear stirrups with them showing out of a pump… but I LOVE that they are back to comfortably tuck into boots! I *almost* wish they’d make stirrup skinny jeans so mine wouldn’t get so bunched throughout the day when tucked in!

    I didn’t realize you were in birmingham! I just went to juicy couture this past week after going to a store for the first time in San Francisco a few weeks ago. I was never into the sweatsuits but I love a lot of the other stuff, esp. the new bird collection which is of course way more expensive.

    I remember stirrup pants when I was in elementary school and they didn’t look that good. But these, I like.

    When the bodysuits with the snaps come back that’s when I’ll really freak out.

    Stirrups are back?! I can’t believe it! Reminds me of elementary school, or maybe kindergarten. I bet I’ll own a pair by the end of this winter season :)

    Kate, you know they make those really old school stirrup clips that you attach to the hems of your pants….I’ve been thinking about finding them just for that reason. Not a bad idea. I let you know if I find any!

    Kelly, I really like the new stuff from Juicy, the more “fashion” items. If you get a chance, go back in a grab one of their “Couture is Here” cataloges. GREAT outfits.

    Carly, it’s always the things that I say NEVER to that I love the most. Just got my pair of stirrup leggings in yesterday. Love them!

    All the new fashions that I initially REFUSE to wear, I end up with a closet stocked full of said product…so I hear ya! Did the same thing with bright shoes, metallics, leggings, skinny jeans, you name it…
