Vintage made simple

Briana is a Colorado native who married a seriously amazing man, Dr. Dave, on June 20, 2009. She's obsessed with ruffles, vintage shoe clips, banjo players, and creamy risotto. Briana also adores flowers and is creating her own business plan (after DIY-ing her own wedding flowers) for a floral company called "Petaling in Tandem." She and Dr. Dave recently remodeled a 1941 bungalow in Denver, Colorado, with their own grubby hands. Dr. Dave's job will likely be taking them to a new location shortly, so they're brushing up on those plumbing skills all over again! Their new family challenge is to create their sustainable and organic lifestyle, while keeping it affordable and practical.

I stumbled across this lovely little item on Anthropologie this morning.

I love it, I do.  I don’t 698 dollars love it, though.  While this look could certainly be achieved with enough flea market and antique store browsing, it would take much more time and effort than simply clicking “add to bag” on the Anthro site.  Now, if only I had $700 floating around somewhere…

What kind of twist would you add to this project, if you were to DIY?

Much love,

we heart your comments!
  1. Yeah, I saw that on their site too! It’s really kind of cool, but I don’t $698 love it either.

I think if I were DIY-ing it, I’d add some place for photos inwith the mirrors. And is that a chalkboard on the lower right??? I wouldn’t use one.

If you DIY this – you’ve got to post pics.

  2. Dear anthro,

I love you, but $698 for that is laughable. Simply laughable.

    Still in love with you,

Seriously though, am I missing something with this? Yes, I also love it, but without that rustically-urban brick wall I just cannot see these mirrors looking as good on my walls (can you picture family coming over, looking at my newly painted cream walls and saying “you spent HOW much for those??”) . We might be better off with that $700 creating that wall and then keeping our eyes open at garage sales for mirrors like these. Le sigh.

A family friend of mine did give me a couple beautiful mirrors that were beautifully distressed…white with gold foil. Perfect! Only to find out that her daughter made them in 3rd grade art class. Makes it even better.
