Rocker Chic. Ladylike. Together Again.
Anyone remember the SNL years ago where they had Helen Hunt and Snoop Dogg on as guests? The trailer promoting that show was the two of them standing on the stage and they each took turns saying their names “Helen Hunt.” ”Snoop Dogg.” Then all it said after that was “Together again.” I loved it! I mean, could there be two more random, opposite people to have together?
Who knew that SNL would display so well Fall fashion. Rocker Chic is huge again this Fall and along with it is the trend of all things feminine and becoming of a lady. Think 1950’s. Since our generation kind of missed the “How to be a Lady” memo (okay, hopefully we all use some discretion and have a small manners) I thought I would give you the “How to be a Lady, Even When You Aren’t” crash course. Or, forget the ladylike thing, “How to Look Put Together When You Really Aren’t.”
1. Take time for a manicure. There’s something about painted nails. They just make you feel better.
2. Pick a scent. Whether in tennis shoes or a ball gown, always wear your favorite fragrance.
3. Gloss away. Even if you don’t have time to do a full face, always swipe on some gloss before you head out. Chose a peach based neutral to brighten your face.
4. Diamonds are a girls best friend. Or CZ’s. Or pearls. Whatever you chose, never leave the house without earrings.
5. Find an updo and do. Find one good “style” that is your go to when your in a pinch.
What are your “How to Look Put Together When You Really Aren’t” tips?

Great tips! I always leave with some fabu Tarte mascara and adroable shoes. Then I feel ready for the day!
sadly…I don’t have any and I think I fail on every single one of yours above on a regular basis. Manicures just don’t happen when left up to me and I can’t afford to have someone else do them. I have several lovely scents but we’re operating in limbo between two homes (have been for several months and will be for several more) so all my scents are packed in a box. I leave house without earrings even though I probably have more than 100 pairs, shame on me! I got out of the habit of wearing lip gloss when I stopped wearing it around my husband so that we wouldn’t have to constantly wipe it off his face, again, shame on me. And finally….I am lost when it comes to styling hair! Sigh, I feel like everything anti-lady. Although, I do love me a fabulous pair of shoes! Does that count for anything?
I’m so guilty of never looking put together. I’m lucky to use blush and mascara. Will start implementing these (excluding perfume, allergic) now. ;)

Hmmm…. my tips would be:
Try wearing ballet flats with your jeans instead of flip-flops.
In addition to some lip gloss, blush on a little blush, swipe on a little powder, and apply a little mascara. Takes all of 5 minutes tops.
Smile!!! A nice smile can also brighten your face!
PS - I have to say that I’m so guilty of hardly painting my nails! It’s hard to find the time some weeks, and I’d rather have on no polish than chipped and peeling polish. But I’m going to try to get better about this one.
Ballet flats are a GREAT one! I am a sucker for some Havaiana flip-flops, but I may have to reach for the ballet flats more often.
Seems like the nail polish is the sticking point with y’all! Okay, sit down in front of the TV with your favorite show on. Trim your nails down to just below the tip of your finger. (The good news is that with the dark, vampy colors that are so in this fall you want short nails!) Paint a coat every other commercial and your done. Buy the quick dry polish and DON”T skimp on the top coat. It will add shine and days to your wear.
I also wish I could have added a #6. I NEVER leave the house without concealer under my eyes. Such a difference!
