Over-The-Knee Boots. To Wear Or Not To Wear?

I'm not exactly sure when my love for fashion started. My mom said that when I was six I asked her why dad always took me shopping at Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom's and she just took me to TJ Maxx. I tend to lean more toward the trendy side of fashion for myself; I like to change my look often, so the trendy things I bargain hunt for. I have staples like my David Kahn jeans and Ugg boots that I don't mind paying more for, but in general, I am an "on-sale" kind of girl.

Your answer really doesn’t matter with me.  I just ordered mine from Piperlime yesterday…   I guess I should have posted this first.   But, still I’m curious what your thoughts are on this new trend:  a welcome change or a little too “Pretty Woman”ish for you?  Here are some pics of my favorites from www.Piperlime.com.  (The last pair are the ones that I ordered.)

They’ve been seen all over the runway and are splattered in every fashion mag, but how do you think they will work for all of us “normal” people?

we heart your comments!
  1. If you feel good in them and can rock the look then I say go for it!

  2. I’ve been contemplating a pair myself! I think they’re great. Ones with heels are a bit too much for me, but I like the ones you picked!

  3. I just ordered about 10 pairs from piperlime and zappos and ended up returning nearly all of them. I tried that pair that you ordered in both the brown and black and it just wasn’t working for me when I tried them on. I was kind of disapointed. I love boots and I was delighted when I saw over the knee is e a fashion trend because I’ve always wanted to try them but it looked inappropriate on me with a skirt or dress (it looked rather hookerish) and with jeans it just didn’t look right, it definitely shortened the legs a lot and I have long legs! …the only thing I liked them with was leggings but I felt like that was a bit limiting. I also tried the lucky brand Gwen pair in both the black and brown and I really wanted to keep the brown ones but just felt I couldn’t justify the price with how limited I felt my wardrobe options were. http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=50253&vid=1&pid=707738&scid=707738012

I’d love to hear how you fair with the over-the-knee look and what you pair them with!

  4. I love the look, but the look does not love my thighs. :)

  5. I LURVE them! Rock em!!

  6. As a short woman, I’d love to wear them, but I think they’re not in the cards for me. I don’t need my already short legs to appear shorter. If you can find a pair that fit you, go for it.

  7. Wow! There is a love/hate thing with these boots! Mine come in tomorrow, so I’m really curious to see what happens. I am just thinking some skinny jeans, a cozy sweater and these boots….of course, I am only 5’5″ so this could be a disaster. Will post some pics of what happens!

ever since i heard that this trend is so IN for this fall/winter i knew i HAD to have some. i bought my first pair of black flat faux suede ones yesterday (very affordable) and i just LOVE them. i have heard so many people say that it doesn’t look good on women with thicker legs/frames but i’m a thicker built girl and i think these look great on me :) especially worn the california way with sum cut off jean shorts and an over sized button up or tunic. i feel really lucky that the trend hasn’t soaked in here yet (i’ve only seen one girl wearing otk boots so far) i intend to get the grey ones next!
