Let’s talk about some flair

Let’s say, hypothetically speaking of course (cough, cough), that you were a complete idiot and lost your engagement ring.
Thankfully the insurance gods smiled down at you and accepted your claim. Now you have a pocket full of money and a shit ton of options as to what to do with it.
Would you…
A. Create an exact replica of your lost ring? Why?
B. Create an entirely different ring ? Why?
C. Take a combination of choices A and B and create the same setting with a little more flair? Why?
D. Upgrade your center stone in either size, clarity, or shape? Why?
Thoughts?

that is a good question. I think I’d just ad a bit more flair to mine, girls like sparkle :)

I would want a diamond of the same, size, clarity, etc. As identical to the original as possible. We’ve had some trouble with the setting (we’ve replaced two of the four prongs) so I might look into a new setting, but it would still be plain and diamondless as was the original. But I’m not one of those people who ever considered an upgrade. I always wanted to keep my original ring.
It is so sad about your ring, but just shows that insurance is very important!

Although I’m quite content with the size of my ring, I think I would upgrade my rock, if I could, and get an entirely different design. I think it would be too sad to have a duplicate of the original ring–it would be a constant reminder that I lost the first one. Plus, change can be fun sometimes!
Option C! I love my ring, but I do wish it had more detail to it. I think my husband was intimidated by all the options (and my picky-ness), so he got me a gorgeous solitaire. And it’s lovely. But if I had a chance to put the ring insurance to good use, I would look for something with more personality and style.
I LURVE my ring, so i’d try to get the exact same setting and a big honkin’ new center stone. {ps I’m hypothetically sorry that you hypothetically lost your e-ring!!}

I think I’d stick with my same ring but maybe upgrade from white gold to platinum which I think about occasionally.
I must say though - I love the combo of the two rings above!

Sadly … I would get an entirely new ring. A girl is entitled to change her mind, right? Unfortunatley, this would be my third time, the first time after I got engaged, I made my fiancee take me back to jewelers so I could pick something else out …
I would probably pocket the money, and buy a giant sparkly ring from a costume-jewelery store. The money is better off being used as a down-payment on a house or for expanding the budget on a remodel… but that’s just my jaded opinion after 11 years of marriage and current lust for a sub-zero fridge.
