Me + a Wii

Hi! I'm the editor and publisher of Elizabeth Anne Designs. I live in Chicago with my hubby and puppy and am passionate about the Atlanta Braves, pumpkin pie, and traveling around the world!

We finally went and did it.  We purchased a Wii.  And Dance Dance Revolution.

I hate to work out.  However, there is documented evidence, embarrassing though it may be, that I like playing Dance Dance Revolution.

So, in the hopes that I will get off of the couch each day and move (and, by the way, the game assures me that NO ONE moves better than I do), I began the Dance Dance Revolution workout.  Two days of 30 minute workouts down, tons more to go. I’ll keep you posted on my progress!  And I’m considering the Wii Fit too.  Anyone have a fun Wii Fit game they love?

How do you make yourself work out, even if you hate it?

we heart your comments!
  1. I have DDR and I did play it almost every day when I first got it. It’s such a fun workout!

  2. Maybe we’ll have to get this and try it. We have the Wii Fit, and never use it. The games that come with it are kind of easy, and it’s just easy to cheat it. Not that challenging, really.

But I do need to get up off my booty and do something! I also hate working out, but this might be fun.

By the way – kickin’ jeans! ;-)

  3. I am glad I could help bring you to the dark side. Now you just need Raving Rabbids. :)

I am thinking of getting the Wii Fit also; I have it on my Christmas list. My MIL loves it and does the yoga all the time.

  4. I hate working out also (sad) and the best thing I’ve found to get me going is the Wii game called My Fitness Coach. You don’t need a Wii fit, and there are a bunch of other great things about it that totally appeal to my personality.

I borrowed a friend’s Wii fit for a while to try it out, but it didn’t excite me too much, and I didn’t like how it made my avatar look obsese and hang her head in shame whenever I gained any weight.

thanks everyone for the comments! laura – i think i’ll skip the rabbids game. :) amy, i must must must try this fitness coach thing! the wii sports game is super boring but i want other things that i don’t need a balance board for. linda – i have done three straight days now and i’m getting a great workout. and rachel – you know you had jeans like that too, don’t even try to hide it. :)

  5. I wasn’t impressed with the WII fit, it takes too long to go between screen, there is an endless amount of clicking A A A A, (or maybe it was B B B B), and it just wasn’t enough of a workout for me because I like my

And so I love DDR. Anyone who knows me knows this. It’s a crazy hard workout that leaves me feeling like I can’t go any longer than 20 minutes. Sometimes I last for 40 and then just collapse on the couch for an hour because I’m beyond spent.

Also your comment about the game telling you that no one moves like you do made me snort. I think by now I’ve played every version on every platform by now and the things they say sometimes have me gasping with laughter. There have been many times where the game has said “Calm down!” (This is when the arrows are craziness and moving so fast that I just do a lot of guessing to try to keep up) and I’ve screamed back “NO! You calm down stupid guy in the game”

the best thing about the wii fit IMO is the wii fit plaza where our miis run in. we made a mii of charlie and he yips when you roll over him with the wiimote. it’s adorable! i also like the balance games.

DDR is by far a better workout. 30 minutes on difficult/expert makes me feel like i want to die!
