Baltic Cruise Stop 1: Copenhagen

Hi! I'm the editor and publisher of Elizabeth Anne Designs. I live in Chicago with my hubby and puppy and am passionate about the Atlanta Braves, pumpkin pie, and traveling around the world!

I’m finally catching up with things and ready to start showing ya’ll photos from our Baltic Cruise in September!  As you may recall, our Princess Cruise left from Copenhagen, so we spent two nights in Denmark before boarding the Emerald Princess.

It was rainy and yucky for most of the time we were in Denmark, but we managed to get in some sightseeing!

Our first stop was Frederiksborg Castle, outside the city in Hillerod.  The Castle was a royal residence and houses a gorgeous chapel with coats of arms for the knight orders in Denmark.  It was lovely!

Naturally, the rest of the castle was stunning as well, with gilded ceilings, marble floors, and lots of woodworking and priceless paintings.

After Frederiksborg, it was on to the Glyptotek museum, where we saw several pieces we loved, including a version of Rodin’s The Kiss.

This is how Ami looks after the first day of European travel: exhausted!

We managed to take in one of the most touristy attractions ever (and if you know me, you know that I thrive on touristy attractions), the Icebar.  It was attached to our hotel, the Hotel Twentyseven – talk about convenient!  Yes, we look ridiculous in our blue parkas, but it was a fun, if expensive, experience!

On the day we set sail, we took the morning to visit Rosenborg Castle and the crown jewels of Denmark.

It was unfortunately *pouring* in the afternoon, so off to the ship we went!  Here we are at muster (looking quite silly again in our life vests)!

Other things we did / places we visited in Copenhagen:

The Stroget – their main shopping street.  I was a bit disappointed.
Tivoli – super-cute amusement park!  We enjoyed walking around the park, although since I was alone in my desire to ride rides, we did not.
Christiansborg Palace – main government palace of Denmark.  No photos, boo.
The Arsenal Museum – the boys loved visiting this one!

Next up, we set sail and visit Stockholm, Sweden!

All photos by myself or the Feisty Tourist.  You can find her recap of Copenhagen right here!

we heart your comments!
