I sat at my computer for about 20 minutes this morning trying to figure out the best way to start this post and explain my (2 month!) absence from EADL.
Well, this is all I’ve got:

We’re moving to Colorado! We are so incredibly lucky to have some wonderful parents, who are offering up one of their rental properties for us to move into. It’s a great location in downtown Denver, and the house is just so….us. Of course, it needs a great deal of work (it was built in 1941 and hasn’t seen much remodeling since then…it still has yellow countertops and wood paneling, kids), but we can’t wait to move in and get our hands dirty in 3 months and 3 weeks!
It’s been a crazy hectic couple months of planning, scheduling, arranging job interviews, starting up my own blog (which will hopefully debut next week), and figuring out where we’ll be living. So, my dear EAD readers, I apologize. I promise to not be delinquent any longer. In fact, you will likely be getting a whole truckload of posts about remodeling planning, landscaping, and eco-friendly renovations. So get excited.
In the meantime, any suggestions to boost the curb appeal on this baby? We pondered painting and a new door… possibly getting rid of shrubs…any fantastic tips?
XOXO

What a cute little house!!!!
It’s hard to tell from the picture, but I would think repainting the exterior and door (or getting a new door) would definitely benefit it! Drive around or look through magazines and online to get inspiration for color combinations.
What an exciting journey!

Cute house! Be careful though! We live in a house owned by my husbands mum. It’s been nothing but trouble! Make sure you and your parents have VERY clear terms of this agreement! Especially if you and your husband are going to be investing time and money making it look fabulous.

How darling!
From what I understand, plantings that are too close to the house cause mold and water issures. I’d pull up the existing ones that are too close to the house (now that they’ve matured) and move them elsewhere in the yard.
I look forward to your upcoming posts!

P.S. It seems you are not the only one who has taken a mini-break from EADL! Look how many writers + then compare it to the amount of posts per week… :( Common ladies! We miss all of you!

I would replace the door with a wooden ones that is painted red. Pavers in a fun pattern would be a great way to make a sidewalk to the road. Loads and loads of flowers. It’s a very cute house.

I agree Abbie on a nice wood door…red would be fantastic! Add a cute fabric awning over the front door, and maybe paint the shutters black! Some nice house numbers near the door, and pavers leading to the sidewalk would also be inviting.

What a truly adorable house. Good luck making it yours.

I’ve heard the best things about colorado, some of our best friends live there. The new house is lovely. Good luck and best wishes! Will be looking for the new blog as well. :)
