Bookcases and Shelves

Hi there! I daydream about interior design and color combinations, so subsequently I'm always wanting to redecorate my house (which drives my husband crazy)! I love my husband and our 4 dogs, working in a creative field, a good laugh, and a great margarita. ;-)

The styling of bookcases and shelves can sometimes be tricky.  Do you just put your books on them, do you use them in an office to hold storage, or do you put up your collections for display?

For inspiration, here are some great examples of bookcases and shelves, and what you can do.

You can organize them by color:

    Oh wow that is the epic battle in our house. I want to organize the books by size and my husband wants to to organize them by topic. Maybe we’ll compromise and organize by color?

    Mine inevitably become a jumbled mess of hardcovers, paperbacks, and all sorts of sizes. I’m thinking I should make my own dust jackets to coordinate.

    I love love love bookcases! I have them everywhere in my house. Most of them are full of books, but they are the perfect piece for any place. Little ones, big ones, short ones, colored ones. Thanks for this post!
