Hello everyone! Sorry I have been distant the last few weeks… I got swept up in my own blog woes, travel, and family drama that kept quite tied up. Between that, home inspections, mortgage applications, and dream decorating our new house – I have not had but a free moment. All the appraisals have been completed, contracts are signed and we’ve placed our deposit. Our new house is scheduled to close on June 15th!

We have a friend who is going to be the head contractor on the job and help us do the work and oversee the tradesmen who we hire. It’s a bit of relief for me, because without him – that would have been my job! And what do I know about running electrical lines? We plan to put new flooring in on the main floor. On the second floor, we’re making the master bedroom larger by cannibalizing a smaller bedroom. We’ll refinish the floors and paint the whole place too. We’ve decided to put in a new kitchen, which I am delightfully excited about. I love the idea that I get to make it my kitchen… and I don’t have to just “do” with what the last lady of the house wanted.

The kitchen above just *screams* country house to me! Even the woodsy color is an inspiration. Even though I love the image above, I think we’re going to go for dark blue or black cabinetry. Needless to say, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what is really important to me – all the while – making my best effort to squeeze into our renovation budget.

I am on my way to the house on Thursday the 10th. I’m meeting with painters, flooring specialists and measuring the kitchen for cabinets. I am sure I will be doing a little more dream decorating from within the space while I am there. It will be good to see the house again in-person. It’s been over a month since I last saw it – and I have never been inside the home when I *knew* it was going to be mine. I am certain I will come back with all sorts of inspiration!
