Recently, I’ve had my eye on cowhide rugs. I love how they can add texture, softness and interest to a room. I also love their durability – like leather, they wear well and even look a little good with a few nicks and scratches. While you oftentimes see them either with very modern or very rustic decor, I think they can fit in with almost any style.

They can be natural colored, like above, or stenciled and dyed like below:

In addition to natural shaped cowhides, rugs that are pieced together with squares or in designs are also really popular.

I’m really loving hide rugs right now. I’m wanting coveting one for under our dining room table – maybe for Christmas?? I’d love a natural shaped, very-light-brown-with-white one.
For now, I guess I’ll just keep looking at them in pretty pictures.

What do you think about cowhide rugs?

I found some really well-priced ones at the Gun Barrel Ranch ~ $200 for a huge hide – Ray was wonderful to work with!

I selected a tri-color hide for our place ~ Good luck making your decision!

I always love the look of a room with a cowhide rug I’m just yet to take the leap for my own home yet.

It’s weirding me out to see them become popular! My husband contributed one to the household and they’re fairly common amongst our friends but that’s because they’re cowboys! :-)
In my opinion, they can look good but they can also look quite contrived.
