Occasionally my husband has work obligations that take him out of town overnight. Sure I miss him when he’s gone, but I also savor the quiet time. Sometimes I take a leisurely stroll through the farmers market. Other times I run along my favorite trail. And often times I curl up on the couch with a book.
Last time Nick left for the night, I picked up a basket of heirloom tomatoes — likely some of the last of the season. I roasted them with olive oil, kosher salt, and basil from our front porch garden and tossed them with fresh garlic pasta from Fasta. I also drank a glass (or a glass and a half) of Cassie’s Blush from Spyglass Ridge Winery and ate a slice (or two) of apple oat bread from Gaffron’s Sunrise Bakery.

And then I retreated to my couch.
How do you spoil yourself when you’re home alone?
I do much the same as you: my favorite foods and maybe some wine. I also watch the shows I’ve DVR’d that my husband can’t stand. My house is usually pretty quiet when it’s just me there, so I sometimes just sit and savor it, or read.

I pop popcorn and eat the entire bowl myself (and drizzle it with butter and salt of course!). Yum!

I sit on the porch with a glass of wine – or i catch up on reality tv. if only i could get a tv out on porch, life would be perfecto.
