For the last month or so, my husband and I have been working on cleaning up and organizing our home office (which is quite a job). Since, according to him, “every other room in the house” is mine, this will be his room. ( I didn’t really realize that I had such free reign on the rest of the house – does anyone else split their house up like this?)
When we started talking about how he wanted the office to look, he came back with some fairly stereotypical guy answers: “I like golf” (not sure how this is a “look”, but whatever), ” I want it to look like a pub or English club”, and “I like green”. He also likes natural and stained woods, and wanted the office to be kind of dark. So from there, I pulled some inspiration pictures to help him to better visualize. And here they are!

So tell me, does your husband take any interest in how your home is decorated? Does he have any strong opinions? Does he care?
Also… any opinions on the above pictures?? We’re still trying to decide.

My husband is about function over form (i.e. comfort), but he definitely enjoys when the home looks nice. He has some ideas for his future office, but they probably won’t happen until we move into a different home (right now, his office is in a corner of our finished basement – not really a room of his own).

My husband is VERY opinionated about decorating, annoyingly so. We do have our own areas of the house. I try to make the “public” areas my domain (such as the living room and the bathroom that guests use) because, well, he has “man” taste LOL. The kitchen is pretty much my area, too. I wish the master bedroom were left up to me, but we have to compromise on that room. He decorated the master bathroom, because it’s very small and I usually use the other bathroom.

My husband asks that I buy functional furniture, not too many knick nacks, and not douse the apartment in pink. Other than that he doesn’t say too much in decorating.
We are still arranging our apartment after living there a year. We are considering moving again so I hesitate to do anything else.

My husband is like Melissa F’s – ANNOYINGLY opinionated (in the best way, of course). In the beginning of our relationship, he thought he had pretty good taste in home furnishings. He now realizes that decorating is “my” thing, although we mostly agree on everything we bring into our home. However, I have the final say.
I love the idea of a dark green “woody” man space. You’ll have to post photos if you go that route!
