A few weeks ago on Twitter, a few of us were randomly talking about travel and we all began listing our top 5 destinations. It was so fun to see everyone’s dream places to visit, so I thought I’d share my top 5 wish-list travel spots here and see what yours were!
My rules for the top 5:
- Money is no object
- It can’t be somewhere I’ve been before
- I’m ignoring logistics and timing
- I am constantly changing my mind about which destination is my #1, so these are in no particular order.
1: Egypt

Despite all of the horror stories I’ve heard about visiting Egypt (how tourists are harrassed, etc), it’s still at the top of my list. I think it would be incredible to see the ancient pyramids and boat along the Nile. I also especially want to do the climb down into the Red Pyramid, because really, how cool is that?
2: Iceland

{source}
The Blue Lagoon is a complete 180 from Cairo, but I might want to go to Iceland even more than I want to go to Egypt. Maybe. All I know is that I want glaciers, and to swim in the Blue Lagoon. Does anyone else watch The Amazing Race? Remember a few seasons ago where they got to go to Iceland? Yeah, that pretty much started my obsession.
3: Beijing and The Great Wall

Is there any place more magical than the Great Wall of China? If there is, I’m making this a top 6 list and adding wherever it is immediately. I want to visit China so badly it hurts.
4: Australia

{source}
Specifically, I want to go the Australian Open. I mean, seeing the rest of the country will be great, but the tennis is what really gets me excited, (strangely?)!
5: Cape Town

{source}
Ah Africa. I’ve been to Ghana before, but the city of Cape Town has such an allure for me. I want to visit the beaches, go to Robben Island, and just take in the incredible scenery.
Honorable Mention
Dubai gets a very special honorable mention (yay Amy I!)
So, what are your top 5 travel destinations? Any of you have some of the same choices as I do?

Croatia, 1100 stunning islands to sail through…
I love this post! I may have to borrow this idea for a future blog post. :) I’ve already been there so I can’t add it to my list, but Mumbai is a must-see!

My top five…holy crap, this will be hard. I’ve been obsessed with going to Istanbul and Budapest for the longest time so Turkey and Hungary are definitely taking two spots. So, let’s call it…
1. Turkey
2. Hungary
3. Sweden (my travel repertoire has been sadly lacking for Nordic countries so Iceland is a contender, too)
4. Morocco
5. South Africa
