Welcome to the inaugural week of something I’m super excited about: Furbaby Friday! Each week, we’re going to be showcasing ya’ll’s furbabies on the blog – because who doesn’t love furbabies?! – and first up is awesome reader Melissa of Duoly Noted, and her furbabies Toby and Kadira!
I asked Melissa to share a little bit about Toby and Kadira:
“I have always been a dog lover. So, after my first year of law school I decided it was time for me to finally get a pup of my very own. Enter Toby, my five pound Yorkshire Terror who is a fluffy ball of personality.”
“A mere six months after getting Toby, I met Dan, and one of our first conversations revolved around our mutual love for dogs! Before I knew it we were engaged and talking about adding another dog to our little family. The day we got back from our honeymoon we picked up Kadira, our German Shepherd. Kadira, pronounced Ka-deer-ah, means “powerful” in African – and boy does she she live up to her name! She is seventy-five pounds of pure energy and muscle.”
“At first, these two did not get along. I am talking barking at each other 24/7. Now, two years later, they are inseparable and don’t like to be apart. We are quite the spectacle walking down the street with our dogs that are completely dichotomous in both size and personality, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Q: What is your furbaby’s favorite toy?
A: Far and away their favorite toy is their rope. Toby likes to hold on tight to one end while Kadira playfully drags him around the backyard. Despite the fact that she could easily yank it out of his mouth, she is always really gentle while Toby goes absolutely nuts trying to get it away from her on the other end.
Q: Most yummiest treat?
A: Sliced turkey, stuffed into their kongs, and then placed in the freezer for an hour or so. It takes forever for them to figure out how to get the turkey out and it can be a great way to get them to calm down when they get too hyper.
Q: Favorite place to nap?
A: Both Kadira and Toby have their own individual beds. Toby thinks he is the king of the house, so he will often curl up in Kadira’s bed whenever he likes. This leaves Kadira a bit perplexed about what to do, so we often find her plopped down in Toby’s bed, despite the fact that it is much too small for her.
Q: What is your furbaby’s favorite travel destination?
A: These two are all about the car rides. As we live in Dallas, their favorite place to visit is White Rock Lake. It has lot of paths for exploring, and a dog park for them to socialize!
