House Renovations

Posted 01/06/2011 by Rebekah in Uncategorized \ 3 comments

When we picked a date for our move back from Nicaragua, we didn’t know where we would end up. We both work from home now, and are really open to any location. We have family spread out over the States and now have a few close friends and family in other countries. We knew our long term plan included living in the States, so we started looking at houses in Idaho (where I grew up, close to my oldest brother), …

Backyard Craft Bridal Shower

As it’s currently quite cold and rainy here, I thought all of us could use a burst of sunshine! Sarina from Sarina Love Photography sent over this adorable backyard bridal shower. It’s full of whimsical details and DIY goodness. I love the pops of color throughout the event, and having crafts in place of games? Fantastic!

Thank you for sharing Sarina!

Mexican Wedding Cakes

My favorite recipes are the kinds that you can tweak. This recipe for Mexican Wedding Cakes is perfect for this. If you like pecans, you can add more. If you don’t like vanilla, you can add less. I like mine a little more flour-y and salty, so I add a touch more salt, and fewer pecans. Have a nut allergy? Skip the pecans altogether. It’s just as tasty!

A dozen different cultures have a version of this cookie. The basic ingredients …

Stefanie from Brooklyn Limestone is one of our favorite people because she faithfully puts out amazing content on her blog, from home decor to Halloween survival kits (we’ve had that one bookmarked for over a year now!)

She’s done it again with these adorable Christmas cards. The self mailing card includes two bags of peppermint tea, perfect for the holidays!

You can see more pictures, and download the freebie on her blog, Brooklyn Limestone.

How cool is this DIY ottoman from Better Homes and Gardens? It looks relatively easy to accomplish. I think I’m adding this to my list of things to do this winter.

We hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! We’ll be back on Monday morning.

A few things that are inspiring me right now…

Fall mums in a cheerful yellow pot

Matching pewter candlesticks (a Garage Sale score!) and mirrored tile

Navy blue nail polish (you’re never too old for a little goth) and lemon vanilla ANYTHING!

What’s inspiring you this fall season?

We have the CUTEST shower inspiration shoot for you guys on this cold Monday morning. It was styled by Stephanie Frazier Grimm of Couture Parties. She chose Paradise Public Park in Newport, RI as the venue – the grounds hold a restored and relocated 1810 windmill.

Lumberjack and Jill Shower

This is, by far, one of the coolest showers I have seen in a long time. Styled by Frilly Milly Events, shot by ICG Photography and found via Opulent Couturier, it’s a “LumberJack and Jill” couples shower. It has all the earmarks of a great party:  a good theme, an opportunity to dress up, substantial food and a funky photobooth. My favorite details are the Smores cupcakes and plaid stationery.

I saw this wedding featured on EAD Weddings last week and was immediately struck by the blueberries. I typically use cranberries for Christmas decor, but wanted to switch it up a little bit. We try to use as much natural decor as possible and this idea is perfect. I’m just not sure how long they would last. Cranberries can hang in there for several days. I’m thinking blueberries wouldn’t do the same. I’ve found fake …
