Lulu 101

Hello, Dear Readers!

My name is Lulu, and I’m just pleased as punch to be a part of the EAD Living team!

It’s time for a little Lulu 101, so we can get to know each other better. I was born and raised in the foothills of Colorado, but escaped the snow after high school for the warmer weather of sunny Arizona. Along the way I joined a sorority, met some lifelong friends, got a Finance degree, and transitioned from a shy only child to a (somewhat) grown up young lady. I met my husband after college 3 1/2 years ago, while attending an international business class (just a warning now, I’m a bit of a finance geek).

Two years ago, I transplanted myself from the sprawling desert to the concrete canyons of New York City, and have been a country mouse in search of big city adventure ever since. I became engaged, battled a bout of unemployment (yuck!), and adjusted to city life while planning a long-distance wedding on the other side of the country. Phew!

My first foray into Blogland, The Dirty Martini Diaries, was started as a way to chronicle my day-to-day life in New York City during all the chaos that came with juggling wedding planning and city life (and yes, more than a few extra dirty martinis were consumed during that time period). After 16 months of plotting and scheming, The Mr. and I celebrated our dream wedding last month. I’m now juggling a new job, planning for our first “official” domesticated situation (we’re currently a married couple with roommates!), and trying to learn the best way to balance a new marriage, a job, an extremely tight budget, and domestic life without stumbling too much along the way.

I’m a number cruncher at heart, but have a tremendous appreciation for all things creative, artsy, and fabulous. When I’m not up to my eyeballs in Excel spreadsheets or blogs, I spend my time cooking, travelling, and daydreaming about Heather Bailey fabrics.

With so much of my life in transition right now, there are bound do be some crazy shenanigans around the corner. I look forward to sharing the next leg of this crazy journey with you!
