The Introduction

Hello there! I have to say I’m absolutely honored to be a guest blogger on Elizabeth Anne Designs. Such a fabulous resource, always full of eye candy and great advice. I’m so excited to share our wedding with you – from the planning to final fabulous day!

To get started I should introduce myself. My name is Alissa (from Graces Birdcage Wedding.) I live in Kansas City -woohoo Midwest!- and I’m an interior designer. Work is actually an interesting factor in this wedding story because that’s how I met the groom.

Dan happened to be an architect at the firm I started working at out of college. We became buddies, playing on the softball team, frequenting mexican restaurants for lunch and the occasional happy hour. It wasn’t until about 11 months later that things clicked and we began dating. We were pretty scandelous, trying to keep it a secret for a while in the office (even though everyone probably knew.) After a little more than a year of dating Dan proposed! So exciting, to know you’ll be with your best friend every day for the rest of your days:) And the planning begins… dun dun dun…

Our engagement pictures were taken by Gary Rohman in Kansas City. We decided to go to one of our favorite downtown neighborhoods and wander around to get a variety of shots. If they fit in your budget, I think engagement pictures are a great idea. Not only are they a fun keepsake to have, but they definitely gave us practice with taking pictures together! Taking pictures on our wedding day, we reminded ourselves of things that worked -or didnt work- in the engagement pictures.
