Rehearsal Dinner Photography

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” – Aaron Siskind.

That Mr. Siskind was a smart man! It’s true, the photos and the memories are the only parts of the big day that stick around after the candles burn out and the wine bottles are emptied. And most brides will agree; photography is a number one priority when it comes to the wedding day.

But what about all of the other events that are associated with the BIG event? The bridal showers? The bachelorette parties? The rehearsal dinners? These are such fantastic events! The time, thought and effort that our family and friends put into each of these affairs are very rarely fully documented. Sure, Grandma Jean snapped off a few photos and your cousin Becky got a few more, so there is tangible evidence that the event occurred. But was your story told? Was the special day documented?

I’m a newlywed myself, and one of my favorite wedding splurges was rehearsal dinner coverage. The images are absolutely priceless of my intimate inner circle the day before the wedding hoopla really began. Just us, relaxed and having a fabulous time. That was important to me. So, when LeeAnn called me to document her rehearsal dinner I was beyond thrilled!

They held the event at Geoff’s cousins’ home. Their gorgeous home played background to an intimate gathering of their closest family and friends. It was a casual gathering that poured through the house and onto the front lawn. The party was full of love, laughter and excitement for what was going to occur the next day. She was glowing and he was so at peace by her side.

LeeAnn and Geoff were meeting some of their new family members for the first time. Aunts meet and mingled while Dads swapped stories of their children. Speeches were made, telling of Geoff’s childhood outbursts and LeeAnn’s tiny little foray into forgery. It was the beginning of two families joining each other. They came together to support these two beautiful people on a life long journey.

LeeAnn and Geoff have full photographic coverage of this amazing evening. Their last night of singledom. The eve of pledging themselves to each other for the rest of their lives.

When LeeAnn told me her wedding was being featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs I was super excited for her. Then I was honored when she wanted to use the rehearsal dinner images. And I was floored when she asked me to write the piece. Super excited and honored and floored. In a search for inspiration, I asked her why she hired me, why it was important to document this day. And she said: ” I wanted to make sure the moments were documented beautifully with a story. You can never have too many beautiful photos that will last a lifetime!” That Mrs. LeeAnn is one smart lady!
