Meet our brilliant photographer!

Hello, happy weekenders!  Hope today’s column finds you well. Seems like it’s photography week here at EAD!

As we had mentioned in our introduction post, we are planning our Colorado wedding from sunny Southern California.  Those of you who have planned a destination wedding will know the difficulty in doing so.  Aside from seeing our venue and meeting briefly with our caterer, we haven’t been able to meet with many photographers, sampled many menus, or had much time to meet with the planner at our venue.

Unfortunately, this means we’ve had to rely on a lot of phone and email communication with the all-important vendors.  In order to make sure that we have something to serve our vegetarian friends, we sent 6 emails to the caterer. It took 4 phone calls to the party rental company to determine the costs of having the heavier tablecloths and exactly what shades of ivory they came in.  And it took a flight to Denver and back to have a mandatory counseling meeting with our officiant.

With all this back-and-forth, a bride could get exhausted!  Luckily, the one area that we have been able to have peace of mind with is the photographer.  We were lucky enough to have a friend who has been taking amazing photographs for years and agreed to do our wedding.  His work is exactly what we were looking for: edgy, photojournalistic, creative, and professional.  We’re super excited to see how his artistic eye reflects our wedding day.

In the meantime, we’re coming up with a nice long list of shots we’re sure we want him to get…though the “classic” shot list is very short.  Most of our desired shots include non-traditional wedding poses, which is where most wedding photography seems to be going today.  I mean, who doesn’t want that classic shot of the bride and groom riding down the road in a bicycle built for two!?

While our photographer is just starting out, he is very talented.  Let me know if anyone is interested in his contact info…especially if you’re in the Portland area.

Anyone else have great luck finding a photographer in unexpected places?
