Real Weddings: Stewart + Darryl

When Cyd, who works for Bella Figura in addition to being one of our fabulous EAD contributors, told me about this wedding, I just had to share it with EAD readers.  Stewart and Darryl’s wedding, photographed by the always-amazing Eleise Theuer, is just full of beautiful and personal handcrafted details!  The couple chose a wedding location close to Stewart’s heart, Melville Farm in Reedville, VA.  The farm has been in Stewart’s family for several generations and was the perfect backdrop for the green, brown, and cream color palette.

Stewart accessorized her Monique Lhuillier gown with a beautiful brown, green, and cream handmade collar by Etsy seller Bonzie, a chocolate brown wrap by J. Crew, and shoes by Cydwoq

The bridal bouquet, created by the incredible Janie Medley of JM Flora, was absolute perfection.

Not to be outdone, Stewart’s beautiful dog Homer had a special collar too!

Stewart and Darryl chose to see eachother before the ceremony and walk down the aisle as a couple.  Stewart says, “This was a journey we were beginning together and we thought it was only appropriate for us both to walk down together.”

A friend of the couple, Charles “Stretch” Ledford, officiated the ceremony.

Stewart is the owner of The Yarn Lounge and incorporated her passion into the event by knitting the cardigan her sister wore during the ceremony, which was closed with a pin that belonged to their great grandmother, and the cardigan she wore during the reception.

The couple worked with Bella Figura to create letterpress wedding invitations in their Amy design.

During the cocktail hour, a Polaroid photo booth was set up for the guests.  A friend of the bride sewed the fleur de lis fabric for the background.

The reception decor was stunning – I love the use of coffee beans in the floral arrangements!

The lane leading to Melville Farm is lined with cedar trees.  As a symbol of the beautiful location, Stewart decided on favors of tree saplings, grown by Itasca Greenhouses in Minnesota.  The tree saplings were placed in high ball glasses with beautiful letterpress favor tags, also created by Bella Figura.  Post-wedding, leftover saplings were planted along the lane.
