The Sweetest Table

After dinner, guests were invited back up to the 3rd floor atrium for dancing, drinks and dessert.  Unbeknownst to them, the room was transformed during dinner as the sweet table and lighting were set up by our amazing vendors, Oak Mill Bakery and MDM Entertainment.  As I mentioned before, we did not have any flowers or centerpieces for the atrium; rather, we spent money to have a large “African tree” gobo light projected on the great big wall, a dozen amber uplights around the room, and one heck of a sweet table for guests to enjoy until 2 am.  Guests mentioned to us several times our wedding had a one surprise after another around each corner!

For those guests who didn’t immediately hit the dance floor as they entered the atrium, we had an amazing spread of desserts catered by Polish bakery extraordinaire Oak Mill Bakery of Chicago.

Despite having seven hors d’ouevres passed around and a decadent three course meal served, the desserts were nearly all gone by the time the wedding ended.  However the ones that were left were packaged up in clear to-go boxes for guests to take home with them on their way out.

I wasn’t convinced we needed a sweet table before the wedding; it was my mother’s idea.  But it certainly created quite the scene in the atrium and our guests are still talking about it to this day.  It was well worth our money.

Just as sweet as our dessert table, was our selection of liquor.  Ravenswood is a BYOB establishment which not only allowed us to upgrade all our liquor for half the cost, but also personalize it.  We served a specialty drink mixed with St. Germain Elderflower liquor with champagne, a vast array of top shelf alcohol, African wines, and an extensive beer selection chosen specificially by us and the hosts of the wedding–my parents.
