Inspired by these favors on Martha Stewart.

I created these:

I followed the instructions found on the MS website. The great thing about this project is that it is completely customizable. You can easily put your own spin on this. The only thing I changed? I put paper on both ends of the candles. I didn’t like the way the one segment of paper looked, and the two segments stabilized the candles so they wouldn’t break.

Products used:

  • Soap (free, part of my stock from www.gotsoap.com. typically $10 for 21 samples of soap)
  • Lace ($.96 per yard)
  • Paper ($.99 total)
  • Candles ($.69 each, 50% off)
  • Ribbon ($1.99 for a roll, 50% off)

Details:

  • Soap: 7″x1″ each of paper and lace, adhesive for both paper and lace. Very very very easy to put together. The soap can get expensive. Bars can be as much as $4 each. But with planning, I’m sure you could find something much cheaper if needed. Each yard of lace produces 5 segments. Each 12×12 sheet of paper produces 17 segments.
  • Candles: Also, very easy to adhere. Two candles, 2 – 2″x4″ pieces of paper, 7″ segment of ribbon. The 5 yard roll of ribbon produces 25 segments. Each 12×12 sheet of paper produces 18 segments.

Cost based on a wedding with 100 guests:

  • Soap
    • $3 per bar = $300
    • $14.00 for 15 yards of simple lace
    • $5.00 for paper
    • $3.99 for double sided tape
    • $322.99 plus tax per 100 guests
  • Candles
    • $.69 per candle x 200 = $138 (unless you score on a 50% off sale, $69)
    • $7.96 for ribbon (again, 50% off sale = $3.96)
    • $5.94 for paper
    • $3.99 for double sided tape
    • $155.89 plus tax per 100 guests
