Youn submitted these gorgeous thank you notes using a major element in her event, paper lace doilies.
For one of the many DIY/craft projects I’m doing for the wedding I’ve decided to decorate my own thank you notes. Since lace is an element of the vintage-feel that’s a part of the wedding theme, I invested in a bulk case of paper doily place mats and I’ve been trying to think of good ways of putting them to use.
Here’s how she made them:
I love these French reversible note cards by Jean Rouget in plum and lavender, so I started with those. Who said crafts couldn’t be luxurious? :)
Then I trimmed the doily place mat. It’s got so much great texture on the edges I almost hate to cut it, but I do have a thousand of these.
I lined up the part of the doily I wanted on the card and used a glue stick to bond it to the card. I liked the contrast of the white so I put it on the darker plum side and left the lavender side for the handwritten note.
To personalize the cards I used a stamp to add our initials to the front. This stamp from Martha’s line coordinated with the lace very well and it didn’t overwhelm the design.
To line the envelopes I used the same doily and just trimmed it to fit inside the envelope. The trick is to glue only the top part after stuffing it into the lavender envelope.
To make the seal, I used a 1-inch punch to make a paper round and a doily round and then glued them together.
