Helpful Websites for the DIYer

Along the way, I did a great deal of online research to find the best prices on a wide range of items. For your own planning and projects, here is a brief list of my favorites. Maybe you can find a few bargains yourself.

Denver Fabrics

My grandma made the bridesmaids and flower girl dresses with the perfect shade of 100 percent green, silk charmeuse that I found here. When I purchased the material, you could order up to five swatches at a time for only a penny each. Unfortunately, over the past year the outlet has changed ownership and they no longer have the same promotion. The site still offers a fabulous array of bridal and special occasion fabrics for all of your projects at a fraction of the cost of some retail outlets.

Their little headbands were a DIY project too. Cream, satin headbands found at a craft store with ribbon wrapped around them.

Sunshine Discount Crafts

Here I was able to find small birds’ nests and that were originally going to be for the escort cards, a large wooden ‘B’ for the head table, and a few other bits and pieces. They offer all sorts of craft and project items and once again everything is inexpensive.

The Ribbon Retreat Wholesale

Ribbon is an excellent way to add your colors into many aspects of your wedding. We used it on everything from the favor boxes to the table centerpieces and bridesmaids’ sashes. The Ribbon Retreat sells wholesale in spools of 20 and 100 yards for a very reasonable price. They ribbon is very high quality. They carry satin, Swiss dots, grosgrain, and the list goes on. All in all, I think we purchased 6 spools and several football fields worth!

Although a bit disheveled at the point the photo was taken, this was the table for our escort cards.

E Party Unlimited

We only purchased sparklers for our send off from this site, but had I found it sooner we probably would have found some additional goodies. They carry everything from disco balls to bubble machines and just might have what you’re looking for.

Last but not least, I thought I would include the two websites where I purchased the gifts for my lovely maid of honor and bridesmaids.

Myna Bags by Emily & Margaret

When I placed my order, they only had one bag left in stock. After explaining I would need three, they found more of the fabric and made an additional two bags for me! The bags had the perfect color of green to complement the dresses.

Greener Grass Design

I purchased earrings here. Although they were a bit pricey, I fell in love with them when I first saw them in the Real Simple holiday gift guide. Once again, the green was the perfect shade and I was able to get three unique designs for each of the ladies.

Anne Black Porcelain Earrings

Theirs were silver instead of gold hoops.
