Hi, everyone! Cyd from The Sweetest Occasion here. As a color junkie I’m loving Color Week and am really excited to be contributing this pretty color palette. Inspired by an earthy yet feminine feel, I chose a palette of aqua, peach and berry accented with soft neutrals. I love the pairing of simple materials with warm wood grain. A tiny touch of metallic adds just the right amount of glam.

Adorable Galentine’s Day Brunch
It’s Valentine’s Day, and as we all know, Valentine’s is meant to be enjoyed with the one(s) you love, so what better way to celebrate than with a fabulous Galentine’s Day brunch! Emily Elizabeth Events created this adorable “Girl Gang Gathering”, where she and several of her closest friends came together to sip, eat, chat, make Valentine’s Day cards, and create floral arrangements, and this is one party we wish we could attend! Pink and gold stationery from Paper Delights invited each lady to the gathering, where they were greeted with balloons festooning the entrance to Seattle’s Ollie Quinn and the most gorgeous tabletop with florals by Emily Elizabeth Events and dusty pink linens from La Tavola. We’re loving chic and modern details like acrylic standing mirrors, cut-out name place cards, and pink lip cookies, and the romance and elegance of the compote centerpieces, textured fabrics, and vintage trays displaying sips and bites. Galentine’s has never looked so fabulous and we are head over heels for every moment, captured beautifully on film by Blue Rose Photography!
Romantic Surprise Italian Wedding
Jacqueline and Trebor’s wedding in Italy was a surprise to everyone, who thought they were simply participating in a styled shoot until the night before when guests received gorgeous watercolor invitations from Signora e Mare. We are swooning over this stunning romantic fete they held at Villa Bertolami in Rome! These breathtaking images from Buffy Dekmar make us feel as though we were there—almost—and we’re so happy to share the details with you. Puffy pink and green blooms in loose arrangements and Jacqueline’s amazing oversize bouquet are from Bo Boutique Flowers, and we’ve never seen anything quite as lovely. They are the perfect complement to Jacqueline’s bespoke vintage-style gown from LWD Couture. To help pull off this surprise affair, Jacqueline and Trebor asked Fine & Fleurie to help coordinate the peach and turquoise details, from the garden setting of the reception to Jacqueline’s beautiful colorful coat to the intricate cake put together by Natalizi. We just can’t get enough of this fabulous wedding!
Current Crush: Emerald Green
Pantone has revealed its 2013 color of the year—and we were beyond thrilled to see that it’s the lovely and timeless emerald green! Beautiful whether dressed to the nines or sleek and modern, emerald green is a perfect choice for the classic couple with a dramatic flair. Adding a dash—or a whopping spoonful!—of emerald to your wedding mix results in pure perfection, guaranteed.
The Lost Boys of Peter Pan Inspiration
Today’s shoot is not your normal fairytale. While many girls picture weddings inspired by Cinderella, we’re absolutely head-over-heels for this shoot inspired by the lost boys of Peter Pan! Dream catchers, stunning bridal gowns, and outstanding personal styling help bring the fun spirit of the lost boys to this shoot. The color palette was inspired by rainbow ice cream, which Petal Pixie did a phenomenal job of incorporating into floral arrangements that popped against the Utah desert backdrop. If you love the imagination of the lost boys, you’ll love this gorgeous shoot by Alixann Loosle Photography!
Little White Dresses
What I wouldn’t have given to be a part of this “little white dress” inspired shoot by Urbane Montage Events! The flowers, the colors, the dresses, the shoes, the accessories—I truly can’t handle it. The peachy melon and aqua color palette is my absolute favorite and the bouquets by Munster Rose are to die for. The little white dresses from Flutter Boutique that are featured in this shoot would be perfect for a rehearsal, reception dress, or even a summer party! Every detail of this shoot and all the photos by Ashley Nguyen Photography are pure 100% fabulousness.
Vibrant Southwestern Inspiration
I couldn’t be happier about all the prettiness we’ve got today, and wait ’til you see what we’ve got now! This gorgeous styled shoot was created by Imoni Events who incorporated personal and creative details with stunning florals by Petal Pusher. I was swoooning over the colorful palette of pinks and peaches with bright pops of tangerine and I absolutely adore the Southwestern goodness in the backdrop of Royal Palms Resort and Spa. Climbing vines, gorgeous fountains, and old trees? Yes please! Oh how I love this whole shoot and all the photos by Melissa Jill Photography. Hope you enjoy it too!
Real Weddings: Amelia + Andrew
You know when you look at someone’s wedding photos and just know that they’re really cool people? That’s how I feel about Amelia and Andrew and their wedding. They were married at the beautiful, family-owned, Keswick Vineyards near Charlottesville, Virginia. It was really important to Amelia to have peonies for her wedding so Kelsey Elliott created gorgeous arrangements of peonies and roses in soft and fun colors in a mix of different containers. I adore the pop of aqua blue from the napkins and that fabulous dessert table backdrop! To me, this wedding is amazing, color-perfection, and captured beautifully by the talented Korie Lynn Photography!
From Here to Eternity Inspiration
This beautiful shoot is inspired by the idea that love is eternal. The team of Anna Wu Photography, Va de Vie Events, and Gingerleaf Floral designed this gorgeous inspiration shoot with time related props: vintage clocks, an hourglass, a metronome, and pocket watches to play off the “From Here to Eternity” theme. Anna and team did a wonderful job with this photo shoot, not just because it’s so beautiful, but also because she gives such good tips on her blog about how to work with a theme and different ways of playing with budgets. Incredible advice for brides and incredibly beautiful as well!
Pretty Pastels & Metallics
There is just so much pretty in this shoot, I’m over the moon! Kelly Maron Horvath of Paper Stories, Lauren LePine of Ryan Alexander Events, Lynn Fossbender of Pollen, Stevi Savage of AveryHouse, and Shannon Spellman of Plate have dazzled me with their interpretation of glitz and glam for the Inspired Creations Contest, it’s an absolute wonderland of handmade charm. Mercury glass accents, mother-of-pearl buttons, satin ribbons and gilded china from Plate are just a few of the ways that the team incorporated glitter and glam into their tabletop and dessert display. And since the Inspired Creations Contest is all about being fabulous on an approachable budget, everything from the sewn paper bunting to the ribbon table runner, escort card holder, cake topper, and even the cake itself was created by Kelly, and all of the decorative accents used in the shoot were brought in from the team’s homes and studios.
Rustic Country Wedding Inspiration
I hope you all are ready for some beautiful rustic country wedding inspiration! This styled shoot takes place at the brand new Virginia venue of Lamontagne at Bluemont. It’s a historic home built in the 1800’s that overlooks the Blue Ridge mountains that was originally a Bed and Breakfast. So gorgeous! See if you can find the perfectly aged brick floor in two of the images below.
Bridal Suite Inspiration Shoot
Going to New York for the Stationery Show was such fun! Not only was I able to see the talented and amazing stationers who exhibited, but it was also a chance to get together with several amazingly talented ladies I don’t often get to spend time with. With the Inspired Creations Contest coming soon, Cyd and I thought it would be a great opportunity to create a little bit of inspiration ourselves!
I’ll take that one there, please.
With 11 months to go and the school year right around the corner, I’m a bit more antsy to make some more decisions about the wedding. I’m not talking about cake flavors or napkin folds or anything, but I feel like it might be good if I had SOME sort of idea of what this whole shindig should look like, right?
What’s in a Theme?
While I’m the first one on board for a 1980s Prom Party or a Tacky Christmas Sweater Holiday Fete, thematic weddings were just never my style. Sure, I’ve seen them gorgeously and creatively executed by other brides, but my ideas for our wedding just didn’t seem to fit into any sort of simply categorized box.
I, like many other brides, future brides, and little girls, have been a wedding fanatic since I can remember. I have issues of Martha Stewart Weddings and InStyle Weddings dating back to 1998– 10 whole years before my wedding day! I decided, on one rainy Saturday, to go through all of my magazines and start tearing out the images, articles, and advice that I really liked and felt inspired by. I wasn’t sure if I would ever use any of these ideas for my future wedding, but I was ready to get organized! I filed all of my ideas in binders with page protectors (nerd alert!) and used pretty color-coded dividers to get it all organized.
Recently, a bride I have been working with for her hair piece mentioned that her wedding will take place in a rather unique location. The desert. Not the typical wedding location choice, but the more I thought of it, the more I began to think how fantastic the idea was! Doesn’t it just sound a bit adventurous in the Lawrence of Arabia kind of way? I thought it would be a great way to also address my weekly theme of weddingregionalism (see Sunday’s blip for an explanation).
Elegant Bridal Session Inspired by Frida Kahlo
Art will forever be inspirational subjects, but even the artist is put on display and ultimately, veer towards becoming artistic components themselves. Cue the illustrious Frida Kahlo. The woman was a pioneer for her time and thanks to her ingenuity, we were graced with many surrealist self-portraits and homages to her native Mexico. In this delightful shoot by Heirloom Rose Photography, Montserrat Salgado wanted to channel Frida, but steer her style towards a light and airy aesthetic. Frida was a paragon for her own brand of femininity, and a bold bridal gown by Esteé Couture with lace details and off-the-shoulder sleeves proclaims that brand of womanhood. Vendors like Haute Poppies and Perch Event Decor fully embraced the inspo. Pink and gold details are forever timeless and the florals were showstoppers; large, organic bundles of blush and peach blooms and without a doubt, that big and beautiful floral crown was the main event. Frida, no doubt, would wear that beauty proudly.
Colorful Boston Botanical Garden Wedding
Valerie and Ken’s Tower Hill Botanical Garden wedding was like walking into another time. Every corner was filled with gorgeous flowers and art, every detail simple in its elegance. The greenhouses and gardens at Tower Hill inspired the color and style for their wedding. Julie Lapham Designs created arrangements with succulents and airplants, roses, eucalyptus, and anemone, and many of the succulents are now growing in the couple’s home! Seeded paper escort cards doubled as favors, a Jenga game served as the guest book, and colorful tabletops graced the Orangerie. We’re simply in love with every moment captured by Arielle Doneson Photography!
Romantic Estate Wedding Inspiration
Though the setting may be in Southern California, the Villa Del Sol D’Oro transports us to Tuscany with its romantic European estate feel. Sweetest Love Events designed an elegant outdoor soiree with a beautiful mix of vintage elements and muted tones. Sibyl Sophia Floral Design created a showstopping bouquet and pastel garden-style arrangements for the alfresco reception and sweetheart tables, whose buttery tones echoed the villa’s graceful exterior. The stylish couple embraced the glamour with a sophisticated pale dove gray Willowby by Watters gown from Mary Me Bridal and classic tuxedo from The Black Tux . We are completely smitten with this dreamy wedding shoot photographed by Devon Donnahoo Photography!
