This warm August weather is just perfect for an elegant evening picnic wedding don’t you think? A color palette of teal, deep pink, and red, lanterns and lights strung from the trees, classic wood tables, blankets and pillows for lounging and of course, dinner under the stars.

Elegant Vintage Wedding Inspiration
Classic, timeless, and delicate, this gorgeous styled shoot from Holly Heider Chapple, Events in the City, Laura Ashbrook Photography, and an amazing array of Washington DC-area wedding vendors was inspired by the elegant style of the early 1900s and the story of the maiden voyage of the Titanic. The deep brown, burgundy, and gold color palette, classic calligraphy, and crystal accessories echo the opulence of the era while the mercury glass, taper candles, and lace table runner add modern day beauty. I am swooning over the to-die-for gowns and headpieces and the luxurious feeling of the shoot, a perfect combination of today’s vintage trends and timeless elegance.
Romantic Bohemian Bridesmaid Inspiration
We are just gasping for breath over this gorgeous bohemian shoot from Tamiz Photography! All of the vintage decor mixed with romantic pink blooms and lacy vintage dresses are stunning! The romantic island style of long, loose waves crowned with floral hair wreaths gives away this Maui location, yet there’s something ethereal and placeless about it as well. And have you ever seen a tree swing so pretty? We want to teleport ourselves into this shoot right now, but instead we’ll settle for staring at it all afternoon in the gallery!
Classic Chicago Autumn Wedding
When Liz and Eric went looking for a venue, they were seeking something that could capture the essence of quintessential Chicago. As soon as they saw Cafe Brauer at the Lincoln Park Zoo, they knew it was the place! Elegant, unique and timeless, they also loved the cafe’s central location. Their wedding design was inspired by the cafe’s classic architecture, with just a touch of garden sweetness added in. Oh and speaking of sweetness? The croquembouche to honor Liz’s year in France: swoon! The color palette of floral arrangements by Scarlet Petal includes the softest pinks and peaches in roses, tulips, stock and even some Queen Anne’s lace. We absolutely adore these photos by Alaina Bos Photography and hope you do, too!
Love Letter Wedding Inspiration
Oh the sweetness that is today’s shoot! There are few things more romantic than handwritten love letters, so it’s no surprise that these creative minds were inspired by love letters that were tucked away within the walls of the 1820’s farm house at Fiddle Lake Farm in Pennsylvania. The love letters between Mamie Dunn and Johnnie Wells were incorporated into the cake and the table linens, and all the details reflect what could possibly have been the wedding of these two loves. Vintage, elegant and incredibly romantic, it’s impossible not to swoon over this beautiful inspiration shoot by Frosted, Kim Winey Photography, Danielle Pasternak, and wildflowers by design!
Elegant Indianapolis Ballroom Wedding
It’s only fitting that a gorgeous couple have a gorgeous wedding! Kristen and Nate are that couple, and their elegant ballroom wedding was just as stunning as they are! After a traditional ceremony right down the street from where they live, the bride and groom hopped on a trolley and headed to the beautiful Indiana Roof Ballroom in the heart of Indianapolis. The couple’s pastel color palette was accented with just a touch of metallics—a hint of glamour among all the formal and elegant details. A big thank you to Turtle Pond Photography for capturing this beautiful day!
Friday Flowers: Blooms from the Garden
Happy Friday everyone! Today’s Friday Flowers are from a sunny shoot styled by one of our favorites, Holly Chapple! Anne Robert did an amazing job photographing vintage details against the vibrant flowers plucked from Holly’s garden. The yellow tablecloth—a gorgeous backdrop for the bold blooms—is actually a bedspread Holly picked up at a tag sale a couple years ago. Cordial glasses from Belgium, white enamel vases and plates, and a sprinkling of sterling silver lend a collected-over-the-years feel to this charming backyard party setting, and we are completely in love!
Pink + Navy Chicago Wedding
Anne and Michael blended elements of three cities for their summer wedding. They wed at the River East Art Center in Chicago, where they fell in love. They asked caterer Paramount Events to add Pierce’s Pitt bar-b-que sauce — a favorite from Anne’s hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia — to their pulled pork sliders. And they shared cheese curds from Michael’s old stomping ground of Madison, Wisconsin, with their guests. Just outside the center where the were married, photographer Austin Gros snapped the most beautiful images of the couple with Chicago’s skyline as the background. We also love the classic pink and navy color palette and all the elegant and pretty floral arrangements by Revel Decor!
Classic Waterfront Wedding
I’m not sure I could envision a more beautiful lakefront wedding than Amber and Andy’s Michigan nuptials. The view was so gorgeous at their ceremony they were worried an arbor would distract from the view, so BLOOM created magnificent hydrangea-and-rose-filled urns to line the aisle. The perfect complement to such a beautiful ceremony! The elegant ballroom at The Inn at Bay Harbor was decorated with coral and peach flowers and touches of nautical details. Amber and Andy are the most gorgeous couple and we are utterly in love with these images from Amy Carroll Photography!
Pink Garden Party Wedding
Pretty flowers, pale pink dresses, and an elegant outdoor venue… Laura and Steve’s Nashville wedding is garden party perfection! The details of their wedding truly couldn’t be prettier. They chose a palette of pale pink and mint green and selected hydrangea, peonies, and roses in arrangements by Enchanted Florist to decorate the outdoor gazebo at CJ’s off the Square. I love the paper flower escort cards and the gorgeous chandeliers but I can’t stop drooling over her amazing Louboutins! What a marvelous day with marvelous photos by Kristyn Hogan!
Big Island Inspiration Shoot
The idea of a destination wedding (or elopement perhaps?) goes through every bride’s head at least one time during the planning process. I know if I had seen Hale Ku Mana in Hualalai, Hawaii, it certainly would have been tempting! This Balinese-inspired private estate set on the most gorgeous Hawaiian land was an awesome backdrop for this shoot. This couple in this shoot recently celebrated their first anniversary too! We are in love with the oh-so-elegant island garden feel and the incredible photos by Rebecca Arthurs!
English Garden Wedding Inspiration
If I could choose 3 words to describe today’s absolutely incredible shoot, they would be vintage feminine elegance. The shoot was inspired by the large hats and fine gloves in ladies’ fashion from the turn-of-the-century as well as one of the most feminine activities of all, tea time! Kelly Oshiro and Tricia Fountaine teamed up to create this gorgeous shoot, pairing pink, peach, and lavender florals with vintage silver containers, tea sets, and old perfume bottles. And just when you think it just can’t get any more fantastic, there’s a puppy too (Kelly’s adorable pup, Mira)! This whole shoot is so gorgeous, it was nearly impossible to only share a few of the gorgeous photos by Kirsten Ellis of Beaux Arts Photographie with you today! Thanks so much to the fabulous team who put it together for sharing it with us today!
Real Weddings: Jessica + Todd
Jessica and Todd did not leave out a single detail for their Florida wedding. Simple yet truly elegant (hello Mr. Louboutin and Ms. Vera!), both their ceremony and reception were at The Field Club in Sarasota. Bridesmaids wore long navy chiffon gowns and carried pretty white bouquets while the guys dressed in grey suits with hints of navy. The reception was clean and classy with navy linens and pretty white florals by Perfect Settings. The weather was a bit threatening, but luckily, the only two downpours occurred just before and after the ceremony, sparing everyone from getting drenched and allowing Liga Photography to get some fantastic photos in the rich post-rain sunset. We hope you love this beautiful and classic wedding as much as we do!
May Pole Inspiration
Goodness gracious, where did April go? I’m already finding myself looking at May as I make plans and am getting very excited for these April showers to turn into May flowers! Another fun thing to think about are May Day celebrations around a May Pole with all the colorful ribbons and flowers! How fun would that be as inspiration for a wedding?
Real Weddings: Erin + Scott
Erin and Scott spent the beginning of their relationship across the country from each other. When they decided to tie the knot, they wanted to somehow incorporate cross-country travel into the day while still maintaining the sophisticated elegance of their venue, Kohl Mansion. Gorgeous florals by Asiel Design included drool-worthy dahlias as well as tulips, roses, and stock in various shades of blush, peach, and pink. Check out the fabulous job Wowpretty did on Erin’s makeup! And of course, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy any of this beauty without the wonderful photos by Meg Perotti!
Real Weddings: Kim + Andrew
Clary Pfeiffer is behind the lens of so many of our favorite weddings, and when her photographic genius is paired with the talented Brit Stewart Weddings, magic happens! Kim and Andrew’s St. Louis wedding at World’s Fair Pavilion is just that magic, with the most lovely garden feel! Sisters Flowers incorporated the couple’s color palette of pinks, soft greens, and pale purples into the lush, romantic florals – I absolutely adore the beautiful textures in Kim’s bouquet! The black linens and chairs added even more elegance and sophistication to an already gorgeous wedding venue. Guests celebrated with the newlyweds while watching the sun set and the fabulous Clary Photo captured the whole beautiful day!
Real Weddings: Nina + Michael
The gowns, the flowers, the colors…I absolutely love all of the details from Nina and Michael’s wedding. This beautiful couple celebrated their marriage right on Lake Erie with a traditional and elegant reception at Shoreby Club and an in-credible color palette. I love the rich and moody purple and navy bouquets and the bright pops of fuchsia and lime in their fantastic centerpieces by HeatherLily, Inc. Oh, and Nina’s gown? Love!! Then again, there isn’t much *not* to love from these gorgeous photos by Z MEDIA!
Real Weddings: Katherine + Lorenzo
Every detail of Katherine and Lorenzo’s wedding at the Powell Crosley Estate in Florida is simply divine. Katherine was inspired by the Old World feeling of the estate so she incorporated international elements into the day such as luggage tag escort cards and tables named for different places around the world. It was an elegant and romantic wedding dressed in whites and greens with accents of silver, gold, and bronze. The stunning floral by The Naked Florist accented the venue perfectly. Sit back and enjoy the utterly gorgeous images from Justin DeMutiis Photography!
Real Weddings: Kathryn + Dan
When they were first engaged, Kathryn and Dan immediately began thinking of a destination wedding. With an international family, they certainly had their pick of where to go! Through their planning however, they found that they wanted their wedding to be truer to themselves as individuals and decided to stay in North Carolina. When Kathryn’s mom drove past The Barn in Fearrington Village and told Kathryn that it reminded her of being home in Ireland, the decision was made! With flowers by Mary Stevens of Fearrington and photos by Melissa Tuck, this barn wedding was bucolic, elegant, and simply gorgeous!
Real Weddings: Monique + Josh
Monique and Josh’s Scottsdale wedding was filled to the brim with soft, romantic, and elegant details. I can’t get over the breathtaking scenery, old-world charm, and incredible oversized doors of their venue, Montelucia. Monique’s Lazaro gown is swoon-worthy and the beautiful florals by Camelback Flower Shop are the perfect mix of elegance and romance in beautiful pinks and whites. Such beautiful photographs by Keith Pitts to get rid of those Daylight-Savings-Monday blues!
Real Weddings: Lauren + Matt
Lauren and Matt’s wedding was classic and elegant with some wonderful Southern details. Gorgeous magnolia leaves were used not only in the floral arrangements but also in the large garland they created which hung over the main doors to the church! I can’t believe that Lauren, her mom, and grandmother created all the florals – a beautiful blend of hydrangea, hypericum berries and roses (I guess it helps that her mother is a florist!). Aren’t the tall magnolia centerpieces incredible? Lauren and Matt had a beautiful wedding, captured just as beautifully by Elizabeth Scott Photography!
