Colorful + Elegant Sarasota Wedding

Elegant, romantic, and colorful perfectly describes Tara and Georg’s wedding at Sarasota’s sophisticated Field Club. The couple lived in Italy for a time, and added some subtle Tuscan vibes to their Florida soiree. Working with Nicole of NK Productions (which Tara describes as “the best decision we ever made”), Tara and Georg created a romantic setting with stunning florals by Victoria Blooms that featured large coral peonies, olive leaf, and blush garden roses. Our favorite detail? The entrance fountain overflowing with lush florals! Petite bottles of olive oil served as place cards and favors, atop french blue linens and set next to table numbers hand-drawn by Tara’s maid of honor, labeled as their favorite Italian cities. Every small detail is flawless and beautifully captured by Tiffani Jones!

In their own words

How did you meet?
Georg and I met in Atlanta through a mutual German friend, who I knew through a study abroad program in Singapore and Georg had met through his work. Our friend came to Atlanta where Georg and I were both living to do an internship at Georg’s company, and I offered to show him around the city. He asked if he could bring another college from Germany with him, and he brought Georg.. and eight years later we are married!

What is your proposal story?
Georg and I were living in Italy together for about a year in 2016 in the small town of Vicenza, which was very romantic in itself. But one weekend Georg insisted we go to Venice for a little weekend get-away. We were staying in a beautiful room overlooking the entire city right on the water. I was admiring the view when I turned around to tell Georg come over to see how beautiful it was, but he was already right behind me down on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring and asked me to marry him…. and as you probably can guess, I said “yes”!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
It was very important to us to enjoy the planning process and not become overly stressed with all the details. NK Productions was the best decision we ever made to make this happen! Having Nicole and her team as our wedding planner really made a difference for us and let us enjoy the process. I know I made all the decisions, but the planning process was truly perfectly executed by NK Productions. I really wanted an Italian theme and I would say we splurged on the florist, which was worth every penny. Victoria Blooms transformed our venu with greenery hanging from the chandeliers, floral details on railings, stunning centerpieces, and so many other little details, I cannot even list them. Yet, it truly made the decor different and personal and gave the look and style we wanted on our wedding day.

What were your favorite parts of the day?
My favorite memory on this day was the ceremony. My 95 year-old Grandfather performed the ceremony which was beyond special for us. He’s known Georg and I as a coouple We held the ceremony in a room with floor to ceiling windows in front of us and behind with views of the ocean on both sides which made for the perfect intimate setting. We had a floral arch and greenery dangling from the chandeliers overhead. We had an acoustic guitar player while guests entered, along with Georg’s sister played the clarinet while we lit our unity candle, and the acoustics were amazing! Georg’s mother also did a reading in German to incorporate some of Georg’s origins as he and his entire family and from Germany. Overall, the ceremony was so personal and intimate and the beautiful setting just made it that more perfect!

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
Georg’s mom did a German reading during our ceremony to incorporate some of Georg’s heritage as his entire family and many of his friends flew from Germany to celebrate our wedding with us. As our ceremony was not religious, she wrote a poem for us that she read and we had the translation on the back of our wedding program so the non-German speakers could follow along. It was so special!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
My advice to other couples planning their wedding now would be to enjoy the planning process as much as possible. It is so easy to become consumed with every detail so that planning your wedding becomes more of a burden than an exciting process. Concentrate on the details that make it personal and make every decision about what you want and not what everyone else wants. Your wedding day is about you and when all the details come together on your Big Day, it is your only job to enjoy them and have the best day of your life with the one you love!
