10 Thoughtful Touches For Your Guests

Your wedding day is all about the two of you and beginning your life together, but you can’t forget about the many people who will be there to support you, often traveling hundreds of miles to get there! Although there’s lots to plan for your wedding, don’t forget the special touches that make your guests feel welcome as well. We’ve pulled together 10 thoughtful details to make the trip a little more comfortable and make your wedding a truly memorable experience for everyone!

Full Invitation Suite

The first impression your guests have of your wedding are your invitations. We love how this invitation suite includes addresses and directions, accommodation information, the wedding website address, and even a detailed map. Just be sure not to include important information on your RSVP card, as your guests will return that piece to you.

Appy Couple Wedding Website

A wedding website is fabulous for web-savy guests seeking info about your big day. With so many options out there, it’s easy to create a custom website and fairly inexpensive to sign up for a custom domain name. We personally love the many templates that Appy Couple has and how they give you a wedding app as well!

Hacienda las Trancas Resort

Help your out-of-town guests figure out where to stay by reserving a block of rooms (even if they’re not as gorgeous as this room). Many hotels will work with you to set a special rate when booking several rooms. Be sure to provide guests with the important information directions and location, the wedding room block code, and booking deadlines.

Local Wedding Welcome Basket

When guests check in to their hotel after a long flight, there’s nothing more welcoming than receiving a little treat! Include some of your favorite local goodies, any important information, and some “must-see” places to visit if guests will have free time before wedding celebrations. We’ve got lots of ideas on fantastic welcome baskets, but it doesn’t have to be anything fancy or expensive! Just a couple bottles of water, a homemade cookie or two, and a little welcome tag from the happy couple can make being in a new, unfamiliar place much more comforting.

Rehearsal Dinner

Some guests travel for many hours to get to your wedding so consider extending the party to include a welcome dinner the night before, an after party when the reception wraps up, or a brunch the morning after you say “I do”. You’ll be thankful for the extra time with friends and family and they’ll be happy for another chance to say congratulations.

Wedding Trolley

Have lots of friends and family traveling from out of town, without the use of a car? It’s no fun trying to figure out how to actually get to the party when you’re hundreds of miles from home. Help them out by arranging a shuttle from your hotel to the wedding celebrations. Bonus points for booking unique transportation like a trolley!

Detailed Wedding Program

Help guests who may not know anyone by including some fun facts about the families or the who’s who of the wedding party in the programs. Who knows, your college roomate may have something in common with one of the groomsmen, strike up a conversation, and then you’ll be heading to their wedding in a couple years!

Pashmina Wedding Favors

An outdoor ceremony in spring or fall? Provide some pretty pashminas to keep guests’ shoulders warm. Getting married on a beach? How about a pair of flip flops to keep guests heels from sinking into the sand? Either way, be sure to include location information on your invitation or website so guests can plan their attire appropriately.

Wedding Menu Cookie Favor Bag Idea

There are so many ways to send your guests home with a little something special after the reception. Favors don’t have to be expensive–the more personal and creative the better! From one of grandma’s famous oatmeal raisins or a bottle of your favorite local IPA, we’re a fan of anything edible and absolutely love these menus which double as favor bags!

Wedding Thank You Notes

Last but most certainly not least, be sure to send a pretty and personal thank you note to your guests for their gifts and for celebrating with you on your big day! Be prompt in getting these out, you can even address envelopes before the wedding to help you get them in the mail more quickly.
