5 Invitation Trends from the 2013 National Stationery Show

Every year in May, New York City’s Javits Center is transformed for 4 days to a paper paradise at the National Stationery Show. Printers, designers, buyers, and paper enthusiasts from around the globe gather to check out the newest designs and trends of the stationery world.

While wedding invitations are just a snippet of the beautiful paper goods at the show, we could (and do!) spend hours and hours swooning over and wandering through aisles and aisles of exhibitors’ booths, each one as unique as the designers and printers themselves. Here are some of our favorite invitations and trends from this year’s show!

We loved the mix of modern type and pretty designs that we saw in so many of B.T. Elements’ invitations. In these, a more modern script was paired with soft florals, making the invitations fresh and oh-so-charming!

We’re a huge fan of hand lettering as well as Fig. 2 Design Studio, so the recent collaboration between Fig. 2 and Lindsay Letters has us positively giddy! It’s always such a pleasure to come across their bright and happy booth at NSS!

These stunning papel picado invitations are just a sneak peek into all the gorgeous laser cut designs Avie Designs has recently created! We completely froze in awe passing by their booth.

As we walked through the aisles, we definitely saw lots of floral garlands and wreaths incorporated into invitation designs, and we couldn’t help but stop and swoon over these sweetly illustrated and letterpressed invitations by Printerette Press!

We were in love with just about every design in the Puddleduck Paper Co. booth, but these herringbone print ones were especially eye-catching! Move over chevrons, herringbone is the new zigzag!
